According to fox sports.com

The Royals are on the verge of signing free-agent right-hander Scott Elarton, second baseman Mark Grudzielanek and first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz.

Looks like we're not the only ones flying under the radar!

Berroa to Grudzielanek to Mientkiewicz does just roll off the tounge, doesn't it?

I bet they take the names off their jerseys now. The lettering alone is more than their entire payroll from last year.

Guess that Willie + Gload for Sisco deal isn't gonna happen after all.

you feel bad for any one who signs with KC. Its like the abysis where veteran baseball players go to play 2 more years then die

AM1000 reprting it's now been announced by the Royals and that it's now 4 players, with the addition being the franchise-changing signing of Paul "bak bak bak bak" Bako.

The Tigers and Twins are crapping themselves now.

We give the Royals a hard time, but these signings will go a long way towards making them respectable (I didn't say "good"...just respectable).

:D: LOL -- the same thing occurred to me.

Seriously though, I hope this is the beginning of a resurgence for the Royals. They were a strong organization in the 70s - 80s and the fans in KC deserve better than what they've been getting in recent years. With Cleveland beefing up, if the Royals become competitive again the AL Central will become the new must-see-TV.

The Yankees have become a money sink and the Red Sox seem to be unable to support the weight of their expectations. When the AL Central dominates, what will ESPN have to talk about? It'll be fun to watch them squirm.

Wow, that team may win 65 games next year.

Agreed. They are all solid players and a huge improvement from the garbage they had at each position last year.

Nobody is saying KC will challenge for anything other than last place, but at least they are attempting to be a little more competitive.

...Scott Elarton...
Nice to see the Tribe's vaunted pitching staff continue to run for the hills. Any news on where Millwood may be heading?

M's / O's are the current favorites. Both have been shut out so far and are somewhat desperate to add pitching. In the O's case, especially if they think that'll help them retain a happy Tejada.

All they need to do now is sign Sham-ME* and they can officially become a true force to contend for 4th place.

It would be an honor and a privilege to see that Royals jump Minnesota and the Kittens.

If Mark Grudzielanek married Doug Mientkiewicz, and they decided to hyphenate...

Elarton not re-signing with the Tribe is pleasing news. IIRC, they currently only have four starters if Millwood doesn't return. I'm hoping they'll have black hole in their fifth spot like we had for a few years.

RUMOR: Industry officials said this week Seattle is still the favorite to land right-hander Kevin Millwood. At last week's winter meetings, two player agents said the Mariners offered Millwood a four-year deal worth $44 million. That would still fit into Seattle's budget for the coming year.
