Those are inflated figures. What exactly are you predicing, a 110 win season?

We won 99 games this year and this was the count:

Garland: 18
Buehrle: 16
Contreras: 15
Garcia: 14
El Duque: 9

As you can see, it was a high number of wins for the team, but the number of wins were centered around the low-teens rather than the high-teens, as you seem to have it.

I think that our starters will go deep into the games and I think we will have over 100 victoriesThose are inflated figures. What exactly are you predicing, a 110 win season?

<Kruk> With this line up, Buehrle, Garcia, Vazquez, McCarthy, and Contreras will all win 30 games! </Kruk>

That's because we got a lot of late comeback wins under our belt for 05. And remember how putrid the offense was after the All-Star break sans Scotty. Our starters got cheated out of some wins. And we had a lot of wins in the bullpen. With a stronger lineup, we could see high-teens for any of these guys, and possibly all of them if all were to right.

If the offense had a down year last year, the pitching almost certainly had an up-year. You might want to factor in the result of both sides going back to their historical norms.

Since Buehrle will be starting and relieving, he'll get 25 victories and a dozen saves.

Okay - here are the historical averages for the starters (in full seasons):

Buehrle (85 wins in 5 seasons) = 17
Garcia (99 in 7) = 14
Garland (54 in 4) = 14
Contreras (last year first full year) = 15
Vazquez = (89 in 8) = 11

Contreras really had his first full season last year (33 starts compared to 16 or so the years before). He had a lot of tough-luck no decisions or losses last year, so I don't think 15 is out of the question again.

Vazquez played on some awful Montreal teams, so 11 might be harsh. Given the last couple years of "struggles" ... who knows where Coop can get him.

I think realistically ....

Buehrle = 18
Garcia = 16
Garland = 15
Contreras = 15
Vazquez = 13
Total = 77

Call me crazy but I have this gut feeling that Vazquez will win 15+ games this year.

Am I the only one who thinks Brandon McCarthy will be a SP in 06? :o:

Would this be with mini-Buehrle, or full-sized Buehrle?

Buehrle-20
Contreras-22
Garcia-16
Vazquez-14
BMac-12

I predicted 20 for Buehrle because I feel that every season he has a decent chance at it.

I predicted Contreras with the most because he's amazing. I think he's gonna make a run at the Cy next year. No deep pink needed (though... keep in mind, I thought this guy was gonna win 20 games prior to 2004. I've been amazed by Contreras ever since I saw him pitch in 2003 and was very happy in 04 when KW brought him over here).

:?:

2004 Yankees 18 GS
2004 White Sox 13 GS

18 + 13 = 31

110 wins is sooooooo 2005. I'd like to see a few more victories than that in 2006.
