It was hard to find anyone happier to be at the winter meetings than White Sox owner Eddie Einhorn, who battled through some major health issues in recent years and was around to celebrate Chicago's World Series title. Einhorn was delighted to mention that the White Sox had tried to acquire Tony Graffanino before the trading deadline and wound up getting Geoff Blum instead. Graffanino, of course, made a damaging error that helped the White Sox get past the Red Sox in the Division Series, and Blum hit a game-winning home run in the World Series .

Another top Red Sox scout, Alan Regier, who worked with Lajoie in Milwaukee, has left to take a job with the White Sox as a minor league field coordinator.
