If Frank Thomas doesn't sign with another team then he should throw the first pitch. Otherwise Minne Minoso.

Kenny Williams should throw out the first pitch, for building a champion.

How about Mayor Daley? He's always been public about supporting the White Sox, and he comes from a long-time White Sox-supporting family. That is, of course, unless we could somehow get the president to show up and do the honors.Isn't the White Sox/Cleveland season opener also supposed to be the first game of the 2006 season for Major League Baseball? I'm not a fan of George Bush, but he is still the president. Why couldn't we have a presidential opener in our team's ballpark?

I like that... I wonder if an acting GM ever threw out a ceremonial pitch?
... let alone throwing out the ceremonial 1st pitch on opening day...

... if KW doesn't do it, get Mayor Daley.

It seems odd that KW would do it. If he was retiring or something, definately, but to have him throw it out while he still is GM is kind of wierd, and I doubt he would do it.

If Frank ends up retiring, he would be the best choice.

Daley would be a good choice as well.

What about Bernie Mac?

Bush or Daley would make sense; anyone but Blaggo, when it comes to politicians.

KW might make more sense on the day they get their rings.

How would Cindy Crawford look in a Sox cap and jersey? She's from Illinois, so why not have some fun and make this a "model" home opener for the World Champs.

I think it'll be George Bush, since it will be the first game of the season. I can see him going on a little speech somewhere on how the sox are like this country, fighting together and what not. That's my choice though, Dubya.

OK fine, I'll be serious. It's one of the following:

Frank Thomas
Hawk
John Rooney
Aaron Rowand
Jack McDowell
Mayor Daley

Maggs would throw the pitch, get hurt while running to shake the catcher's hand, call Ozzie a backstabber, and still ask $70 million for his services.

I'm sure the Cubune donates a lot of money to Bush. They'll convince him the White Sox cheated. He'll declare the cubs the true champion after they win a landslide popular vote.

President Bush is a terrible choice. He's a politician, and NOT a Sox fan. The honor of a ceremonial first pitch at the first game after we won the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP should definitely be reserved for a true Sox fan.

Lots of good suggestions in this thread. Any of the following would be great: Frank, Kenny (but I agree he probably wouldn't do it), John Rooney, Hawk, Carlton, Jerry Reinsdorf (also probably wouldn't do it), Aaron (probably unavailable but it would be cool).

Alternatively, they could pick me, LOL.

Eddie Einhorn because he has been very ill comes to mind.

Minnie Minoso another fine choice.

The woman holding the "I've been waiting 92 years for this" sign at the World Series. Seriously....I'd identify the longest/continuous full season ticket holder the White Sox have...that fan should get the honor.

Take a former player (or living relative) from each White Sox playoff team after 1917 and have them throw out a first pitch at the same time:

1919, 1959, 1983, 1993, 2000

Would be nice to see some old fan favorites get another round of applause on what will be a special day in White Sox history.

He would be there to throw a pitch, not make a speech. If he breaks into speech Im booing him.
