Actually we had this same thread when Everett came back for the 2nd time.

He's a utility guy who can play five or six positions. He's got a set of different gloves for different roles, maybe he could wear different numbers depending on where he plays. Velcro-attached uniform numbers -- another White Sox innovation!

Let's take it easy on Hangar. It's the offseason, and this is a fun thread. I'm going to take a stab at this and guess a number nobody else has picked yet: #27 (Blum's old number).

Macko will wear 58.
That is my guess. He was originally 59 with the Pirates, but that is taken by the great Man Soo Lee. He only switched to number 3 this past year.

my guess: #6Does anyone know the deal with the #6. Seems like it never gets taken, yet it's not retired. The last time I remember it being worn was by one of the '83 coaches that passed - I want to say Lau, but it may have been Loren Babe. Does anyone out there know if #6 has been worn since then, if there's some sort of quasi-retired aspect to the number, or if there's something else going on?

I'm pretty sure Hrniak wore six for some time.

I know Mackowiak wore 59 and then changed to 3 last season. If he takes 59 from Man Soo Lee, he'll be the first active Sox player to wear that number since John Snyder, I believe. I don't think he'll wear 3 since it was retired for some guy named Baines.

As for 6, I remember catcher Ricky Seilheimer wearing it during his tenure on the South Side around 1980.
