They made quick work of it. Originally, they said it would take until midseason to get it down.

Wow. It still looks like they have a ton of work to do on the New Busch, are they going to get it done on time? Lots of OT it looks.

I don't see how they will ever get the new stadium done in time. It looks like it is a little more than half finished.

2 years ago the Philadelphia park looked the same but somehow they got it done.

Not sure why the Cards have had the most disappointing off-season in recent memory when they are going into their new stadium? Maybe they just assume they can rest on their laurels.

They´ve lost Morris, Grudzielanek, Sanders, Walker....are they going to start So Taguchi the entire season and hope for a healthy season from Rolen to cure all their ills? The NL Central should be winnable again, but they sure have not improved themselves in any visible way yet.

There is a reason and Cards fans are not happy
Which is why I can not rule out the Cubs just yet in that division though I would love to see Milwaukee make a run.

/ (http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/columnists.nsf/berniemiklasz/story/6B6D347B31DDD0D8862570D4001B06D7?OpenDocument)I had no idea the new Busch stadium would create such financial hardship for team chairman Bill DeWitt and his partners. Actually, for years the media and fans were told the opposite: that the owners needed a new ballpark to increase revenue and payroll. And the new ballpark will open in 2006, so this should be a happy time, yes?

Well, one of DeWitt's associates called me last week to talk on background and he politely made the point that the team can't increase payroll for 2006 for a simple reason: The owners have reached into their own pockets to pick up much of the cost for building the new ballpark, and resources are limited.

Comparing that picture against the renderings it's more like 2/3 finished, maybe more. The only structural work left is extending the grandstand around the LF corner and the single-deck bleachers in left and center. It looks like they even have the seats installed in the rest of the place already.

Think back to when New Comiskey was built. The entire structure was up by September. I remember going to a game in September of '90 and seeing the upper deck roof looming over the upper deck of old Comiskey. Didn't they already have the field put in at that time too? It's crazy how much it seems that they have to do yet on Busch.

The KMOV home page has a link to hundreds of demolition pics. Pretty macabre stuff, some of it.

I remember that. I have a poster from 1990 of old Comiskey Park with New Comiskey towering over the old ball park. New Comiskey as I recall did have the field in place or mighty close to being in place.

Despite what some people say, I don't see how new Busch Stadium will be finished by April with the work that looks like needs to be done. If they ever get bad weather this winter, that will slow up construction more.

I drove by the new stadium today and what is done looks very nice. It should fit in nicely with the rest of the city. They still have a long way to go though.
