In a minor-league trade, the White Sox traded LHP Dan Mozingo and RHP Jim Sweeney to the Angels for OF Scott Bikowski and INF Josh Shaffer

This was a good move.

Schafer is the son of one of the Sox scouts or something. This had nothing to do with making the team better, just another father showing his kid some love during the holidaze...

This almost seems like a Schueler type move...should I get my hopes up? Angels GM paying back KW for the bad karma of Disney killing the Erstad deal?

Damn... Mozingo was a big-deal prospect. I was hoping that he would be in a Sox uniform eventually. Although Bikowski's #s look pretty good. Does anyone know anything about these guys?

Does anyone know ages on the guys dealt? That would seem paramount to determining whether this was a good deal or not

I don't really like this deal. Mozingo in a real prospect, he's 21 and had a great season for Kannapolis. He was an early round draft pick out of HS and has a good arm.

Sweeney is actually a lefthanded pitcher not a righthanded pitcher as was written earlier. He's 22 and had a good year this year at Kannapolis and a good year last year in short season ball. He doesn't have the kind of arm Mozingo has and he's the kind of guy who could get roughed up once he reaches AA. The Sox aren't pushing him the way they'd push a top prospect.

Bikowski is 24, last year was his third year in the Angels system and he was just reaching high A-ball. If this guy was a real prospect he would be at least in AA right now, last year they didn't even promote him to AA despite a solid A-ball season and a monster first half.

I don't know Shaffer's age but he was a utility infielder for high A-ball Rancho Cucamonga. He played 20 games at second, 22 at short and 16 at third. He didn't make much noise at the plate.

Looks as if we gave up the only legit prospect in the deal. Kenny may have just gotten fleeced again.

I agree... Mozingo's a stud. When I saw that Bikowski was 24, I was pretty pissed. Shaffer isn't going to do anything. The only saving grace for Bikowski might be his speed and high OBP - but then, we thought the same about McKay Christensen.

I have a sinking feeling that Mozingo's going to come back to haunt us.

Well the problem with Christensen was that he didn't have a high OBP, he was just fast.

Christensen is still a major league ballplayer though, if he didn't take that 2 years off for his Mormon mission he would have been better off...c'est la vie...I look forward to seeing how the Dodgers use him this year
