Now that we have Konerko locked up for 5 yrs and Thome to play first when Konerko DH, what do we do with Ross Gload? He isn't getting any younger, does he have trade value?

Some, but not much trade value. I think he might be a throw in should the White Sox make a deal this year.

I thought he was out of options.

I would think you use him as a throw in or keep down in triple aaa as insurance.

I fail to see what value Ross Gload has as a throw-in. In the history of fans overrating players on WSI, he is the MVP.

I love the idea of him being an insurance policy in AAA. One very terrible injury moves him to first or DH. Much better than throwing him off to another team and then needing him.

He will be in AAA, or given his unconditional release. He is essentially a AAAA ballplayer, so he may be able to hook on in Kansas City, or Pittsburgh for a while.

He could help rake the infield before games.

I would agree to either keep him in AAA as insurance or get something out of a Pittsburgh for him. I think he would have a better chance to flourish for a team like KC or Pitt.

He already did. He had great numbers down there which lead to his being on the '04 Sox.

Man, Rossie was robbed of that grand slam against the Flubbies. It hit the flag wire, which is attached to the foul pole.

I bet Ross would have a starting job today somewhere if he'd gotten credit for those 4 ribbies.

It was foul, I was standing under the foul pole. BUT(!), He quickly knocked the next pitch into the leftfield gap for a 2-run double. Those two runs disappeared when he made an error allowing two runs to score.

Gload makes league minimum. Keep him as insurance. As much as I would like to see him get a shot starting with a AAAA team like TB or KC, I want him hear to back up Thome/PK. I haven't forgotten that 321/7/44 season as quickly as others.

We'll always have the memory of his double to beat the Tribe at the Jake at the end of the season. Ross....we hardly knew you.

I'll never forget that game...I was trying to get the burgers off the BBQ between commercials and my girlfriend yelled down the steps, "G-Load (pronounced phonetically, not correctly) just hit the game winner."

I was there (and for the Saturday game)...it was weird watching a game where the home team was under huge pressure to win...and the White Sox biggest problem was their hangovers

teasing about the salami.

i wish we could keep him as insurance, as i too have not forgotten his steady stick. however, just like Tony G, I think he should get a chance to play every day or close to it elsewhere.

Good Luck, Ross, I was always a fan!

Trade him and clear up a roster spot for Frank!

I believe he cleared waivers last year before being sent to the minors. There is no market for him.

With Ross's shoulder (?) injury keeping him out of the outfield, RG might be a at most, a serviceable 3rd string 1st sacker. So he is not versatile enough to even keep on the 40-man. Hence, the trade for Mackowiak -- a guy who can legitimately play 6 positions, and also is a solid left-handed stick.
