Gordon is 38, 3 years is a ton at this stage in his career.

Is Gordon a set-up guy, or their closer?

He signed there instead on Texas because of the guaranteed 3rd year and a guarantee that he would be closer there.
I couldn't be happier! Go Phillies!

These price reflect the Sox effect, imo. Pitching.

I hope that Philly is already drafting a buyout because there's no way this guy pitches 3 more years effectively

Gordon was a pretty solid reliever while with the White Sox two years ago and he did a good job setting up Rivera the last two. I just don't see how he can pitch that well for 3 more years at age 38, especially considering the innings he logged with the NYY. I just can't see him being an effective closer everyday, pitching back-to-back games, his curveball isn't what it used to be. When he's off, he gets hammered. I think this will be a huge flop ala Percival in Detroit.
