No worries for us because we had a class act get the last out of the World Series... and that class act, who also happened to resign yesterday, gave the ball to Reinsdorf in an emotional moment at the Ticker Tape Parade! :bandance:

Typical Mientkiewicz BS. I'm glad Garland nailed him after he talked trash about Sox fans after the Ligue incident.

He was the other guy on the Twins that I hated along with AJ (when he played for them).

I've since changed my opinion on only one of them. What a ****.

Normally this would be the #1 topic on WEEI this morning but with the horrible trade the Bruins made last night it is being overlooked......still it was on the front page of the Globe this morning

Red Sox play tough on memento (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/12/01/sox_play_tough_on_memento)

(By Jonathan Saltzman, Globe Staff) To Red Sox fans, it is priceless -- the baseball that Keith Foulke flipped to Doug Mientkiewicz on an October night in St. Louis last year to clinch the team's first World Series championship in 86 years. Now, 13 months after Mientkiewicz pocketed the ball, the team is playing hardball.

Wasn't it Buehrle who nailed him? I was at that game and I thought that Mark was pitching.

I think Red Sox organization is being a bitch about the ball. If Ramirez hits a home run, then shouldnt the ball belong to the fan rather than to the Red Sox? If the ball goes back to the Red Sox, then it pretty much overturns all previous rulings on ownership of monumental baseballs (Bonds' 700th homerun and 71st homerun balls come to my mind). In the case of one of them that was resolved in the court of law, the ball ownership was given to a fan.

Doug M was paid to play. Nobody said he will lose his pay if he dropped the ball. Red Sox should have, smartly, signed him to a 1-year deal right after the 2004 season and then asked for the ball to be paraded. Theo Epstein is out of his job for not being able to make such decisions which cant be decided by the on-field numbers alone.

It was Garland. I was at the game as well. He got tossed right after it, which caused an uproar.

Wow. This is one of the bigger reaches I've ever seen on this board. FYI, Mientkiewicz WAS signed to a 3 year deal, and there's simply no way he lets go of that ball.

:gulp:
