The home ones didn't. The road uni's didn't initially, but they were added a couple of years later. Also, the pants had numbers on them initially, but were later removed.

It did.

I think that you can see "the Pope" Poll's last name on the scene with him in that uni in Field of Dreams

I don't believe they've ever had the names on the back of the 87-90 jerseys. Here's a photo of Mark Salas....if there's one w/ a name out there I haven't seen it.

Yeah, I remember about Halloween 1990, I went as Scott Radinsky. Thanks to the Sox not having names on the back of their jerseys (and probably in large part to laziness and poor-sewing skills by my Mom) everyone kept asking "Who's number 27?" :cuss:

The road jerseys did not have names on the back until around June of 1990. I know this sounds strange, but the Sox actually put the names on the back of the road jersey about 1/3 of the way through the '90 season. I think the first time they wore them was on that early June road trip to Oakland when Dave Stewart told the media that there were only three guys on the Sox that could hold his jock.

I also remember that the Sox switched to the current uniforms for the final weeks of the 1990 season... was nice to see them close out old Comiskey in style with what are the classiest unis in baseball, hands down!

Yes, good point. Not only did they wear the new home unis for the last week or two at Old Comiskey, but they also wore the new road grays for that last Boston series at Fenway. For some reason, I'll always remember Ozzie lining out to Brunansky on that phantom catch down the line in Boston, and Torborg running out to argue it to no avail.
