It's been a while and I still haven't heard anything about hardcover Sox book I ordered. Anyone else get theirs yet?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it was discussed in this thread...

I have an e-mail confirmation from SI that the book was ordered on November 11th, but still no sign of it.

My e-mail confirmation from 10/27 says:

For newly-released SI Commemoratives and other books on possible backorder, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.

It has just hit 4 weeks now...

Nothing yet. For that matter I'm still waiting on 3-4 things from MLB.com too...

I've already received my first two issues of the SI subscripton, but I haven't received the premiums yet (hardcover book, baseballs and bronze coin). I remember the ad stating that it may take 4 to 6 weeks to receive the premiums so I'm not overly concerned about that. I do have a copy of the SI commemorative magazine (which I believe will be more or less the same as the hardcover edition).

Well it looks like the gifties are finally starting to arrive; apparently each item is being sent separately. I received the bronze coin today... the rest should be coming soon! :D:

Sort of, anyway. MLB.com sent out an shipment confirmation email on the World Series hats today, so after waiting 6 weeks I will finally get that beautiful hat. In case anyone is still looking for the WS hat you might want to give them a shot (MLB.com)

Got my book today. Photos are really good haven't had a chance to read any of the articles. One of the bylines did say that the Sox have been in the Cubs shadow for a hundred years. (Does anybody actually look up the history they espouse?)

I haven't got my book yet, ordered it when it first came out. But I did see a charge from SI for the book on bank statement on 12/6 so it must be on its way.

I recieved the coin, didn't notice anything else yet though. If others are recieving 2 of the 3 baseballs, mine might be in the garage or something and I just missed htem. At least I got the coin, I was getting ready to call and ask where they were.

http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=62162&highlight=hardcover tell me how it turns out, I'm thinking of picking up this package with the baseballs, coin and book. I believe (from what I read) it's 56 issues at 1.65 ish an issue..not too bad for a die hard sox fan.

I ordered the book only the day it went up, and my credit card was just charged for it on Thursday. I expect to be getting it soon.

The book and the first two baseballs arrived today. The box with the baseballs also contained a note that the World Series ball and the stand would arrive in a separate shipment. The hardcover book is quite nice... it is the original commemorative SI issue, with added end sheets. Also the magazine cover does not have the bar code in the lower left corner, and the annoying subscription insert cards are not there (which is a good thing!).

I recieved the 2 baseballs today. So I am still waiting on the 3rd ball, the stand and the book. Hopefully they will be here soon.

I received the hardcover book today, but haven't received the coins or balls yet. Anyone else in the same situation as me?

The book is the same as the newstand magazine, but the hardcover is a nice touch. It appears each book is individually numbered too. I have #8950.

I just got the 3 balls and the stand. The balls are smaller than league size balls. I didn't get the coin yet. I guess Monday was the book, Tuesday the stand and balls, and tomorrow we get the coin.

In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the SI World Series Commemorative book.....

Still waiting for the WS ball and the stand, but should be arriving any day now.

Just got the Highland Mint coin today. It's numbered #1387 of 15,000. It comes in a really neat display case with the scores of all the postseasons games on it. My wife immediately told me she bets they produced 50,000 of these and figures there are probably two or three other #1387's floating around somewhere :D: Haven't received the baseballs yet.

The SI hardcover book finally arrived at my igloo yesterday, #3104.

Was anyone else pissed off by the opening article by a Sox fan? In the article, he described how reluctant he has been over the years to take pride in publicly supporting the Sox. It's as if he was embarrassed by his team. He wrote that it took a World Series championship before he could finally come out of the proverbial closet and openly declare himself a Sox fan. If it was a tongue-in-cheek piece it might have been amusing, but he seemed to be serious. I was disgusted. One article in the entire publication from a fan's point of view and he wastes it dwelling on his inner torments. What kind of ****ing fan is that? What a ****ing dweeb! :cuss:

Sorry, I can't remember the name of the writer, but he should be ashamed.

I couldn't agree more. Also, he talks about the celebration that the city would have for a Cubs pennant, and states that all that the city could do is put a Sox hat on city landmarks. Ummm, I don't think parades would suddenly erupt if the Cubs won the pennant, and is he implying that the parade that drew 1.75 million people was inferior to what a Cubs celebration would be like? This guy is an idiot, and he had no business writing an article about the Sox in SI.

I got the book earlier this week. It kind of sucks because it's just the magazine I already have with a hardcover on it.
