Haha. It is just a personal thing with me, but I really don't like that Phillies jersey. I don't really think anyone looks good in it.

Rowand would have been the perfect CF to replace Bernie especially in Yankee Stadium.

I can't explain this trade but if KW likes it whom am I to argue.

Aaron makes that gigantic field look like a little league park.

Hey Don't get all bent out of shape because your ****heads are 2-8 or whatever the're record.

Rowand does look strange in red, and for some reason, I always picture Thome being a Sox in some pointof his carrer so he doesnt look so weird

I completely agree. Yeah, he's smiling, but it's for the cameras. I remember a real smile from the parade. Behind those Philly pinstripes there's a heart that's broken. I still agree with the trade, but damn, it doesn't feel good. :whiner:

The new uniform looks pretty bad, the smile very fake. I hate to see him go but I also think he was one of the more overrated players on the team.

If we would have lost some games during the Series, he would have been a goat. He made 2 huge baserunning errors (remember Ozzie yelling at him in the clubhouse?) and he took the wrong route on several of flyballs (for some reason he always took steps back when the ball was dropping in fornt of him). Those were big time mishaps that largely went unnoticed b/c the SOX won.
That being said, I like everything Rowand represented. He was gritty and never took a timeout during the game. He doesnt have All-Star skills but he gave 100% ALL the time. In the pros, that is a big plus.
Seeing Rowand leave stings, but I ultimately believe that Kenny W gave us a better chanced to win in 2006. Good luck, ARO!

Agree 100%. My brain says "Great trade." My heart says, "No way!" Kenny (and we all) want to repeat. There was much moaning and groaning on this board mid-season when KW didn't land a big bat. Well, he's done it, folks. Time to give him his props. You ain't gonna get Thome for Marte.

Rowand can still make us Sox fans happy by beating up on the Cubs. After all a White Sox win and a Cubs loss makes Sox fans smile!

Let's all hope that Thome stay healthy this season.

PERFECT post! I saw that picture and compared it to the one of he & Crede from the World Series DVD premiere on Monday, and to a picture of he & I at SoxFest in the Hyatt Bar back in January. The smiles in those two pictures were real; the smile in the Phillies picture from today looks completely forced or fake! :whiner:

Yeah, I thought Rowand did not look very natural in that Phillis uni. SO used to seein him in that gray road uniform. It was kinda the same with Carlos Lee last year, although the Brewers uniforms look alot more like ours than the Phillies'.

Thats EXACTLY the one I was thinking of too. I remember seeing it on whitesox.com and he looked like he was really happy, you could see it in his eyes. In the Phillies pictures his eyes look lifeless.

All in all, its a good trade for the Sox but I will miss Rowand and his big red truck! :whiner:

When I heard the Sox had made a deal involving Rowand, I held my breath hoping that it wasn't the Yankees. I'm bummed to see him leaving...he gave me one of my live highlights in '05 when he hit one out in San Diego to send the locals home mumbling last June.

As for Thome...this was a guy I always hated to see come up to the plate with the Indians. Now, as long as he's healthy, Thome could make K.W. look like a genius.

Not to turn this into a referendum on the Phils unis, but they're actually one of my favorite. I like the "Phillies" on the chest and the number on the sleeve is great - reminds me of the '59 Sox unis. And if you don't like red, white and blue, well...

I agree. That red jersey just isn't him. Much better in the Silver and Black. And wow, can you tell he is forcing that smile or what? I feel bad for the guy, he seemed to really love Chicago, but best of luck to him in Philly, and maybe one day he'll end up back here.

It is one of the old school classic jerseys of MLB. Would you say the same of the 1982 Sox jersey?

I'm indifferent in regards to the Phillies jersey. But when I see red pinstripes on white, I think of popcorn or circus peanuts. :kukoo:

No they don't. They all look like a freak show with those out of place "stars". Thome REALLY looked weak in them.

As I have stated before, a few months of Brian Anderson, we'll quickly forget anything Aaron contributed. GREAT trade.

Is it hardcore bias to think that any player would look good in a White Sox uniform? There's just something about the black and white and the Sox logo that is just attractive.

Aaron better learn to accept it and show real smiles. Philly fans won't put up with his fakeness (I know its probably not a word)and they will eat him alive.

I agree with your perception. I'm going out today wearing my Rowand vest jersey. As a tribute to his Soxness. He was silver and black and white to the core.

He's being a great sport about it and putting on a positive philly face but a stooge has left.

Maybe this is destiny stepping in and allowing a class guy like Thome finally get a ring while Aaron's presence will be what finally puts Philly over the top and into the playoffs.

Wouldn't that be something if both things came true! Don't Stop Believin'.

Philly is well known for that, but they like guys who put it all out on the field, and we know that Aaron Rowand is that guy. It was a great trade for both teams- we get Thome (couldn't be more excited about that) and Rowand will establish himself as a fan favorite in Philadelphia (or wherever he ends up playing for that matter).

On paper the trade looks great. anybody who's seen my posts knows I worry a lot about chemistry, and in Thome's case I worry about injuries. (I hate the Phillies uniforms they're boring.)

Dont know if this has been talked about as I just got back from a 10 day vacation...

I was reading the Monday trib (11/21), and it said Rowand was the honorary Coin Tosser for the Bears/Packers game on 12/4. Anyone know if he will still be doing thisI think it would be great to see (and cheer) for him one last time.:(:

It's obvious Aaron is not happy in that uniform right now but of course he does have to put on the happy glad-to-be-here face.

When you read each player's quote, the contrast is striking and tells you all you need to know.
Thome: "This is a dream come true."
Rowand: "This is hard."
