Basically, anyone who didn't pay tax in 2005 doesn't pay tax in 2006, regardless of salary. I.e. only the Red Sox & Yanks can possibly pay tax in '06. Even more interesting is that if the deal extends to '07, as currently written, that advantage would roll over so anyone who paid 0 tax in '06 would pay 0 tax in '07.
Not that the Sox are going to qualify, but it's an interesting point. Could curtail some spending plans for the BoSox this offseason.
