The right price for a solid utility guy.

Excellent move, IMO.

Agreed. Also of note is the end of the article. Sox obviously bought Chris Young's contract, but roster is currently at 39. Today is the deadline for each team to declare their 40 man roster.

Any signings on the horizon for today?

Agreed. $500k is peanuts for a utility guy like Pablo.

The Sox now have the following minor leaguers on their 40-man roster: Jerry Owens, Chris Young, Stewart, Haigwood and Haeger. All AA players this past year.

A nice problem to have needing to protect your future stars.

Great move by the Sox! He's a solid utility infielder and even had himself a handful of clutch hits this season. And did I mention he pinch ran for Pierzynski in Game 2 of the ALCS and scored the winning run on Crede's double to left field?

Him playing in so many games is a big reason the sox won the world series. He allowed a lot of the regulars to get regular rest. Him, along with willie were the bench guys who made the most impact. Obviously blum and willie made the biggest impact on the world series, but all the bench guys allowing the regulars to get regular rest was huge.

I remember all those threads like it was yesterday... "i can't believe Pablo's playing again " "i can't believe they have willie leading off "

These guys were a huge part of the team, IMO.

Is Timo a free agent?

Phew, now we have Joe Crede's replacement locked up for when Crede has a bad first week in 2006.

Welcome back, Ozuna. I'll never forget how big you were for us in the World Series......

Well the crow you made me eat for Crede was delicious! He's now one of my fav. players on the club (I can't believe I said that!!).

I'm really happy they resigned Ozuna, the man was integral to the bench...he can do so many things that are essential with this ball club.

You left out "STOLE SECOND BASE," and scored...

Pablo isn't the fastest on the team but he IS fast - also a smart baserunner and not afraid to take off. Also a true team player. Excellent news!

Good move. He might start half the time for some lesser teams. Great guy to have on the bench.

Signing Ozzie's "secret weapon" was a solid move.

Anyone think Pablo is faster than Scotty?

Ozuna can flat out fly.

Not faster, but hustles harder. And he's probably our best baserunner, IMHO. And if not the best, definitely the trickyest  . Glad to have him back!

Yeah, but the bad news is that Pablo's return makes it less likely that Willie Harris will have a roster spot next season. :o:

The man busted his rear in spring training to get a roster spot he was not supposed to have. He then played the part of substitute better than anyone on the team. The 500K is well deserved.

Great move. Pablo was a huge asset off the bench all year, especially when Crede was banged up.

I remember he hit everything in sight during Spring Training. I also remember asking: "who is this guy?" I won't have to ask that question ever again.

I can't believe I omitted the "stole second base" part! I was thinking it while I was typing, but my brain must've been working a lot faster than my fingers were typing! I did include the fact that he score the winning run, though....

Ozuna had a better batting average, but Harris is a better fielder. I would much rather have Ozuna than Harris. Pablo's a solid hitter.
