Podsednik, Konerko, and Contreras have no chance of winning against Ben Reiter's nominee.

Personally, I'd rather see Ozzie or KW win this because they put the pieces together. But out of the nominations, I'd like to see Contreras win because he kept this team afloat during the stretch and was treated badly in New York and had the story about defecting from Cuba and what he had to put up with in his family and becoming dominant in the 2nd half.
EDIT: I'm surprised Roy Williams wasn't nominated.

Afleet Alex?

If the Boston Red Sox can be named Sportsmen of the year why can't the whole White Sox team?

I agree, the White Sox played as a team and won as a team not a group of 25 individuals

And that's exactly what I wrote to SI. This team, far more than the power-laden $150 million plus payroll Boston Red Sox, is an inspiration and far more deserving of being named Sportsmen of the Year. What it'll be Wie or Federer.

Don't you have to play a sport to be Sportsman of the year.
