Remember me? (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/mark_bechtel/04/27/daily.blog/index.html)

Wow, that was a while ago. I was just going through my favorites and I came across that, and remembered how pissed I was when I read it.

I wonder if Mark's opinion has changed

**** him.
I was just about to post that...

How about
Their lineup just doesn't seem that good, and Ozzie Guillen looks like he needs to take a deep breath.

I'm glad I saved some of these negative articles written throughout the year, it's fun to go back and read them ... And realize how wrong these "professional" "writers" truly are.

Hope you enjoy your CROW this Thanksgiving, Mark!

What was so annoying about the media this year wasn't necessarily that they thought the Sox were gonna fade so much as they seemed pissed that they were doing so well.

From ripping Ozzie apart for his spat with Magglio without saying what Magglio said to the whole september choke job angle. The Sox success threatened them for some reason.

Look on the bright side... imagine how stupid all those idiots must be feeling right now!!! :rolling:

The fool is talking about how the cubs had Harry Caray and we didn't. Boy, I wish the White Sox could claim to have had Harry Caray at some point in our history, but we NEVER did.

Wow...for some reason I don't recall this article. It's more of a "Gotta hate the Sox because of Hawk" article, but dumb regardless

He addressed his old, idiotic article recently.

Link (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/mark_bechtel/11/02/bechtel.1102/1.html)

At the bottom of the 2nd page:

A few months ago, I wrote about how the White Sox were the worst team to be a fan of. I wasn't ripping Sox fans. I was simply pointing out that being a Sox fan, at the time, was a pretty thankless existence. (No title since 1917, no close calls, playing second fiddle to the Cubs, etc.) Nonetheless, a handful of you took it as a rip, and I was called some mean names. So to all White Sox fans, except the aforementioned mean ones, allow me to say this: Congratulations. It's nice to see a championship won by a team with long-suffering fans.

Hey Mark,

Even though this article was from April from '05, do you think you'll want to do some revising the next time you write something like this? After all, if you think it's hard to root for a World Series champion, then I don't think you're in the right business. But what do I know? I'm only a radio news reporter from Chicago, and the last time I checked, your Indians were knocked out the playoffs by the 5th worst team on your list.

So I can agree with you the World Champion White Sox are pretty tough to root for from your perspective. Too bad the World Champion White Sox, and fans like myself, don't think much about negativity from you or anyone else. It's kinda hard when we're still cleaning up the confetti from the victory parade.

Oh, did I mention the White Sox are World Series Champions? Just thought I'd remind you.

P.S. I just read your response to this article, and I'm glad for your graciousness. Next time, please don't underestimate the passion of us White Sox fans. You've already experienced what it's like to be on the bad side of us. But we really don't bite...honest. We just know how to growl loud enough to get peoples' attention when provoked. Thanks.

You think that was poignant enough?

Too bad for him he feels that way, he missed some great baseball this season. When did being a smartass jerk become a more important qualification for being a sportswriter than actually knowing something about sports?

I love how on each linked blog, his next paragraph is "Idoit of the Week." Talking about himself I see.....the recent blog linked here ends with his telling us to stay "classy." Too bad he can't.

I dropped them in 1996. It was bad back then too.
