I know this has been asnwered several times, but I have a friend who is getting married soon and needs to let the DJ know this ASAP....what is the names of the musical scores that they play before Thunderstruck? I know one is from Gladitator and one is from Pirates of the Caraibean, but does anyone know for certain the names of the scores? Thanks

Elk Hunt from the Last of the Mohichans soundtrack

I'm pretty sure that is actually NOT the song. I am doing more research, and while it sounds like Elk Hunt, it isn't.

What does your research entail, and how did you make the definitive determination that it is not Elk Hunt?

My research will actually be asking my dad and my music teacher to listen to it, since they are both Soundtrack nuts, and see if they know it.

It is not Elk Hunt, if you listen to the intro (you can find it on cbs' website), and then listen to Elk Hunt, you'll hear the difference.

Edit:

http://cbs2chicago.com/video/?cid=29

Here you can find the video of the intro from the parade. You'll have to click more 4 times to get to where the video is.

Listen to it, and if you have a copy of Elk Hunt, listen to that afterwards. You'll hear the difference.

Having listened to Elk Hunt every time on the way to the game this year (51 games total), and a ridiculous amount of times throughout the rest of the year, I feel safe in saying that the first half of the piece is Elk Hunt, with the second half being "He's a Pirate" from Pirates of the Carribean.

Trust me, I know. Elk Hunt is not the song the Sox use. I know what I'm talking about.

And when I know what I'm talking about, I'm a force to be reckoned with! :D:

I've noticed a difference too. They're very similar, but they're not the same song. The one used in the intro video is called Harrow's Way, composed by Holly Frates. Good luck finding it though.

I listened to a sample at http://www.nonstopmusic.com/html/body_catalogdtl.cfm?cdid=100074 and it sounds a bit higher pitched to me...but I guess the best way to figure this out is to email Jeff Szynal (sp?) the director of Scoreboard Ops.

Maybe it's just an edited version of The Elk Hunt.

As a formerly educated musician, I can tell you with great certainty that the music on the Sox Player intro version IS NOT "Elk Hunt". It's VERY similar, in fact, if they are published as being seperate songs by seperate composers, someone should be sued for copyright infringement.

First of all, the ending notes are very different. "Elk Hunt" has a more elaborate cresendo and a more dissient chord structure. The player intro blends into "He's a pirate" with more of a de-crescendo. This ending is much less climactic and more subtle.

I haven't listened to the entire "Last Of the Mohicans" soundtrack, but my guess would be that it's another track from the movie. These two pieces of music are too similar to be composed by different people. The composer is Randy Edelman. If you go to www.randyedelman.com (http://www.randyedelman.com), you will find that this guy has composed musical scores for A LOT of movies. I don't know where to begin.

I agree, I had Elk Hunt burned for the ride to the game, and is quite different from the first intro piece.

Wow, are they similar. The end of Harrow's Way does seem to me what I remember hearing at the ballpark over and over again. Elk Hunt is close, but I think it's just a little bit different.

Does anyone have a link to the video that includes "Thunderstruck"? Frankly, I'm pretty excited to have the first part of it so that I can e-mail it to Sox fans that live out of state and don't make it to home games. I LOVE this video.

Harrow's Way was written and recorded by employees of a company called "Non Stop Productions". They provide music for presentations and musical scores. It doesn't appear to be issued for consumer sale, but I don't know for sure.

I agree...Harrows Way is the 1...in elk hunt the violins are too fast and the background tempo is off.

The second half of the intro is from Pirates of the Carribean but I would agree that the first part is Harrow's Way.

Here's a thought...the "Win Or Die Trying" video, as great as it is, needs to be updated. The highlights from September and October should reflect the team's run to and through the World Series. The original production was AWESOME, and I saw it for the first time at that "Rally Monday" before the ALDS vs. Boston. Still, it would be nice if the Sox were to tinker with that video, and have it reflect the entire post-season run.

The version posted online isn't the one they showed during the ALCS and WS games. The ones shown at those games were updated through the most recent playoff series.

I, too, added Livin' on a Prayer, plus Respect by Aretha Franklin, Feels Like the First Time by Foreigner and Beautiful Day by U2. Never heard those at the ballpark, but they seemed to fit. Someone else suggested At Last by Etta James, but it seemed too slow to go with the rest of the CD.

Harrow's Way is a sactioned link, you'd have to find one for He's A Pirate, but I doubt you would because Disney wants you to buy it.

I was just curious if anyone was familiar with certain songs that players used as they came up to bat for their personal intros?!?!? I wanted to add these to my Sox playlist along with many of the others already mentioned. I had read in "Blender" that Gload comes out to "The Crowning" by Choeed and Cambria and that Pods comes out to "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult (and a couple of other options.

Anyone know other tracks used for certain players.......

Being an Illini fan also, "Let's Go" by Trick Daddy is on my list. kind of a hype song.

Somebody said after they won Game 1, before they launched into the usual "Sox win" music ("Na Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye", "Sweet Home Chicago", etc. ), they played "Magic" by the Cars.

What I did to save the video to my computer is just emailed it to myself. There's an option to do just that on the website.

And I was able to get "He's A Pirate" from Limewire. Just check that you're not planning on using it for commercial purposes or profit.

I'm sure somebody has that list of player intros saved and is willing to share it with the group again.

The search tool is your friend. The thread below helped me out tremendously when I was making my Sox CD. I also included some of other favorites that I've heard at the ballpark or that remind me of this season, such as U2 - Desire, Van Halen - Top of the World, and Journey - Don't Stop Believin'.

Here's a pretty good UTUBE version of the full intro without the crowd noise.

That's the only thing that annoys me about my "Sox Pride" DVD. You have the Game 2 intros, from "Harrow's Way" through to "White Sox fans its time to play Ball with Nancy's bit on the organ." but nooooooo. Disney wouldn't allow the Sox/MLB to use "He's a Pirate" on a DVD release without having us Sox fans paying for its usage right.

Grrrrrrrrr.

I still dig the song though.
