Landis thinks he can get more for the gascan!
Free agent relief pitcher Bob Howry (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6036/) is reportedly seeking a three-year deal worth $10.5-12 million, the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reported. The Indians have considered offering Howry a two-year contract worth $7.5 million, but agent Craig Landis believes his client can get a better deal.

Wow.
He has had two very solid seasons in a row...but taking a pass on nearly $4M/year for two years? Crazy. Cliff P. is looking pretty sweet for $1.2M.

Good, hopefully Howry will be with another team next year, he was a big part of their success in 05.

I'm begining to think that Landis might have set his goals a little to high this offseason... 5 years for Konerko and $4million for Howry is asking quite a bit!

IIRC, he was a big part of the Sox sucess in 05 as well.
Didn't he blow a couple of leads against the Sox?

What team would be stupid enough to overpay a player by that much for so many years?

Wow, I am glad we took team players and long deals. Based on their '05 seasons, Politte and Cotts could justify asking for $6-7 Million, based on the same logic.

:nocubs "What's up? We just gave Ryan Dempster a 3 year, $15.5 million dollar deal after 2 months of him closing for us. How can we contact this Bob Howry guy?"

Can you say future Devil Ray? This guy is gonna go the way of other players who piss away their final years on a last place team. He's nothing special. We know that from when he was here. Remember during Crede's walk off game he gave up 3 runs in the inning and everyone was hitting him. He's not worth that money at all.

Even worse, they gave Nefi Perez an incredible $5 million over 2 years (over 20 years might make some sense); Wille Harris is a better ballplayer than Perez.

Ryan Dempster isn't worth Ryan Dempster money. Few relief pitchers are worth big contracts, especially if those contracts are multi-year contracts.
Relievers have careers filled with ups and downs. They may have show some success coming up to contract time, but there are a lot more Joe Borowskis than Dennis Eckersleys out there.

In other news, I am also looking for a three-year deal worth $10.5-12 million.
I would say that the likelihood of both of us getting that contract is the same, but there are a LOT of dumb GM's out there.

Bingo! I thought he was a free agent. Big loss if he goes elsewhere. Still not sold on Wickman.

Even if they do resign him, that's more money that they're not going to be able to use to keep their young talent around.
