Anyone have any word on a season/playoff highlight dvd that may come out. Didn't they have like a huge DVD set for the red sox last year? I would be extremely disappointed if as the world champions we didn't get at least a dvd.

I think the best answer to this that I can point you to comes from Scott Reifert's (Sox VP of Communications) blog:

http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/

"Also, many people have called and asked about DVDs of the World Series and season. The World Series DVD by MLB should appear just after Thanksgiving, while MLB's season highlight video for the Sox should make its appearances on store shelves in early December. Both will make great stocking stuffers."

Doesn't sound like a Red Sox-style mega DVD pack...too bad...

Their DVD thing didn't come out until July. I am guessing if sales of the preceding DVDs are strong, we might get a nice box set next year.

I'm guessing the way people buy their favorite shows, sporting events etc. their will certainly be something. They are bound to make some money off it. I'm guessing the print run won't be as high as the Redsox but I would expect something in the future. They'll take the die hards money for sure.

I'm guessing this years DVD will instead be about how Cleveland ALMOST got to the playoffs!

DeepDiscountDVD.com has the DVD release date listed as 11/22. I'm assuming that your DVD is listed as backordered because the disc isn't out yet.

I would be really surprised if they didn't come out with a dvd thats more detailed in a couple months like the Red Sox. Basically, they only have to pay the guy producing the dvd. They already own the rights to the footage. This is why you see so many TV shows coming out on DVD now, even bad ones. Theyre cheap to make, so even if a few people buy it, it still makes money.

Nah, you're wrong. MLB just sucks.

Thanks, I never really bothered to look at when the DVD is actually released...

I had someone ask me the same thing. "How come they can't send you the DVD now?" This is during Game 4 of the World Series. I just shook my head and walked away.

I have (and from their sister site DeepDiscountCD.com). I've never had any problems with them, although their shipping tends to be a little slow.

Houston Astros is in too big of a font. And why isn't it White Sox vs. Astros?

TheQuestion

I was just about to post something asking this same question when I found this thread.

As a *stupid* superstition I didn't record any of the games because I felt as though I'd jinx them. (We all our superstitions though, right?) Then, for those who read my post (book) about Hurricane Wilma, I couldn't have recorded the last two anyway.

I then for giggles I read about the Red Sox set....wow. 12 discs of baseball goodness. Will the White Sox receive such treatment? One can hope...but when will we find out?

Who can you even ask these things to?

NOVEMBER 29TH

That's when the DVD is to hit stores.

The box set would emerge, I'm guessing, sometime next season if sales of the first version are high enough. So tell everyone you know to buy as many copies (what else are you going to get the Cubs fans who happen to make it onto your Christmas shopping list?) as possible so we get the juicy version the Red Sox pumped out last year.

As for the cover art and the font on the Astros...whatever. We had to sweep someone.

Will this DVD include all 4 WS games in their entirety? The description on the Amazon site is not clear, but seems to imply that this video will include "highlights" but not the complete games.

Can someone clarify?

Thanks!

For those in the Chgo metro area. These things will be everywhere.
Bookstores, Best Buy, Targets, even Osco and Walgreens will have these.
Save your shipping costs and just pick one up after Thanksgiving.

Even outside of Chicago I don't see them being THAT hard to find, I know I've seen World Series DVDs from previous years in Best Buy type stores.

IIRC, the Red Sox DVD set was made by the History Channel (or maybe A&E).

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the deluxe box set of the entire championship run. The White Sox just don't have the national following and celebrated "curse" that the Red Sox have so I'm not sure if they'll put together a 13 disc monster set for the real Sox. As far as I know, the Carmines are the only team to have a big set like that. We'll have to wait and see.

:tongue:um...ALL WS dvds feature the celebration artwork......

Gene

p.s. they had a rough mock up of the cover in the cub-times the day they clinched...i prefered that cover artwork better(pictures was of the game 2 celebration IN THE MAD-PILE, i'm assuming it was from one of the fox cameras)

Here's a nice cringe-worthy hyperbolic review:
What a World Series this was !! The Astros couldn't score any runs at all..And, The pitching of the White Sox was masterful.....to say the least. This DVD will capture all of those awesome highlights. This was, BY FAR, The best World Series of all time. Preorder now, Before it is sold out forever!!!!!!!!!! Every team has 'em... :dunno:

One more note from Amazon:

Narrated by Michael Clarke Duncan

it should've been narrated by that guy that sang the national anthem a bunch of times over the year. He's from the lyric opera, Patrick Blackwell i think is the fella's name.

He has the deepest, most badass voice ever. Better than James Earl Jones
