I'm surprised that MLB would allow this. Heck, Reggie tried to kill the Queen of England when he was with the Angels!

I find the role of Jay Johnstone in that movie the most hysterical. he plays the straightman.

Well I guess Las Vegas is the new Tampa...the city every owner who wants a new stadium plays footsie with.

Or at least most teams that haven't had a new park built since 1990 (Twins, Marlins, A's, Cubs)

If he buys them, he could be the "straw that stirs the Twinks."

Minnesota taxpayers are absolutely unwilling to build stadiums for either the Twins or the Vikings. That doesn't mean that the legislature won't ignore the will of the voters, but it will be very tough, and that was before "love boat."

I see this as yet another ploy to blackmail the Minnesota taxpayers: "see, Las Vegas wants us. Better give us a new playpen."

I would think if the Twins did move to Vegas, or any team for that matter, there would be some form of Geographic realignment.

I agree with Nellie though, this sounds like a ploy to get a stadium deal done.

While I am sure the twin cities have their problems in terms of keeping interest in the Twins... Las Vegas is a terrible place for a professional sports team of any kind.

People in Vegas don't care much about Vegas. Everyone there is there only because of the tourism, and everyone there- in their lives- has ties to another city somewhere in the nation.

If a resident of LV is a sports fan, I'd be willing to be they're a big fan of another team... and always will be.

Sports only succeeds based on the "civic pride" of the area.

This is too bad, I think Minnesota has some good fans, I don't like them, but I hope they get something worked out for a new ballpark up der. Perhaps Hostess can build them a stadium. "The ding-dong ho-ho center"

Las Vegas will never get a team as long as betting on baseball is legal in Nevada. Las Vegas couldn't support a team in any case.

Las Vegas is one of the largest growing cities in the country, they could probably support a team, especially if it is the only pro sport in town.

The gambling issue is the reason they may never get a pro team.

Hmmm...the ho-ho center...every season ticket gets a free box of dingdongs...that would be tasty...

As for Reggie Jackson buying the Twins, my roommates response was "They're not for sale! They'll pass the referendum...eventually!"
