View Full Version : Since the playoffs began, how much money have you spent on the Sox?

Mods, if this thread should be somewhere else, my apologies and please move...

I was just wondering how much money everyone has spent on our well-deserved Sox this postseason. I am estimating I've spent about $300.

Locker room WS Champs t-shirt/cap, around $50
Sox hanging banner, about $36
Sox black alternate replica jersey, $75
Sox celebration ornament, about $16
Pennants (A.L. Champs/WS Champs) $10
Magazines/Newspapers commemorating the team....about $30

And I know there are lots of other things I'm not thinking of at the moment....(to be continued) :D:

Ya, I'm probably in the $250 - $300 range

I spent about 150 on ALDS tickets (won't count my beer and food) and about the same on shirts, magazines and a DVD.

I have a feeling that number is going to jump quite a bit. I'm going to need another jersey and that jacket the guys were sporting at the parade is a "must have" too.

I'm probably at $120.00 or so. T-shirts, pins, mags etc.

$250 on 4 ALCS tickets

$36 on banner

$125 on world series t-shirts, caps, sweatshirt and car flag

I'm not sure I'm done spending yet - Family thinks I'm a little out of control! :D:

Thinking of buying Ozzie plan tickets for next year.

$60 on tickets for game 1 and 2 of the ALDS. + whatever I spent on food.

Nothing on World Series gear, my birthday was the 26th and it came pouring in.

I'm expecting a ton for Christmas - I'm the biggest fan in a family full of Sox fans.

Ah, to be young and single with little responsibility and lots of disposable income...

AIRFARE Toronto-Chicago return = $500 CDN
DOWNTOWN HOTEL (8 nights) = $1,200 US
TIX TO ALDS GAME 1 AND GAME 2 = $100 US (approx, can't recall)
TWO VISITS TO GRANDSTAND = $600 CDN (my god... I was out of control...)
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP STUFF FROM MLB.COM = $100 US and counting...

Mercy. But worth waiting a lifetime for. Thank you White Sox!

Way too much to quantify, especially after the bartabs for the ALCS clincher and the World Series winner.

Not fair - if you're counting bar tabs, I'm going to count the 55" HDTV I bought for the Series. Ya, I watch other stuff on it now - but that wasn't it's purpose! Then there is the beer and food bill for my game 1 WS and ALCS party - UGLY!!

Probably $4-500...bought an authentic Pod black jersey, so that ran up the bucks pretty quickly among t-shirts, flags, pennants, DVD's, etc...Every day another box shows up at the front door....

I wish mlb.com would ship everything in ONE box!

$150 on Sox merchandise so far.

Sox hoodie; championship hats for myself, my wife and my dad; flag for grandpa's grave.

Can't wait till the full DVD box set comes out.

daveeym
11-03-2005, 01:43 PM
A bit over $300 right now.

$150 on 2 ALCS tix and then the concessions.

$140 on a locker room hat, photo plaque and world series micro fleece on MLB.com the mlbsorry20 code was key, basically got the hat + shipping free because of it.

That's probabaly all I'll be spending except for $100 plus for the multi disc dvd set when/if it comes out. Might make that my xmas gift from my girlfriend though.

Did you happen to see my post in the Parking Lot, or stumble across them yourself? I ordered the jersey and the 30-ball case. I STILL can't believe the prices. Free shipping helped a bundle, too!

$400 on tickets (two games refunded, though). Lots on booze at bars during games. No merchandise yet - I hate that there are no legit fitted hats because One Size Fits all look bad on my head. I might grab a hoodie or a t-shirt here, not sure yet.

My cost has been more the toll this postseason took on my school performance, though.

I think it counts. Would I have went out on a Wednesday and paid a three hundred dollar bar tab if the Sox weren't about to win the World Series? Would I have dropped five hundred on a digital camera if I wasn't going to a World Series game for the first and maybe only time in my life?

I think you have to take that into account.

I guessing I'm somewhere around $100. A few shirts, the locker room hat from the WS and a glass christmas ball. Plus a handful of newspapers.

I have a really long christmas list though. :D:

Hmmmm... got a hat, tee, and polo for division, AlCS, and world series each. A framed picture of their celebration, an AJ jersey with the WS 05 patch, and the black and creme coaches jacket (what Ozzie was wearing at the parade).

I don't have the nerve to add it up.

But hey, I've been waiting years and years for this!

I didn't buy anything until the Sox won the pennant, partly so I wouldn't jinx them, partly because I have too many things from 1983 1993 and 2000 with 'division champion" on them.

Since then, though, at least $600 and counting

Nothing new since the summer when I ordered two t-shirts, one with the current logo and the other with the throwback logo, from Grandstand, but I do plan to order a clubhouse championship t-shirt. Where is the best place online to order one from, BTW?

Oh, BTW, I already have a current logo New Era Sox cap that is at least three years old, an "Einhorn E" cap that is 16 years old and has been altered so that it still fits decently, a replica throwback adjustible 1917 cap that is 15 years old, the two Sox t-shirts that I already mentioned, along with another throwback logo t-shirt that I bought last December AT A LOCAL FINISH LINE NEAR MOBILE, AL, and two more with the current logo that are at least 10 years old, not to mention various Sox bumper stickers, including the old school "WMAQ 67" bumper sticker on my car, baseball cards, etc.

My problem with Grandstand is I can never buy just one thing. I'm like the energizer bunny once I get in there. Will I NOT buy a jacket because I already have 3? I don't know. I'll have to test myself. That one with the cream colored sleeves looked sweet, even though Ozzie wore that one for the only playoff loss!

Going into Grandstand is like having Christmas come early! There's an endless supply of things I want and it's as though I lose all respect for money once I step foot into that place.. and I respect the dollar very much.

A lot of the reason I tend to spend so much in there is because they have the best (and really one of the only) selection of female Sox gear around and really, how can one resist that?!

Playoff ticket package (all home games except WS game2): $298
White Sox hooded sweatshirt bought specifically for October baseball: $60
World Series Championship hat: $30
World Series Championship flag: $15

PLUS the bar tab for all of the away games and WS game 2, and 5 days off of work!!! :gulp:

PLUS I intend to go back to the Grandstand after my CC billing cycle closes in a couple of days!!! That will be a true test of my self-discipline. Yikes!!

A Game 6 clincher at home would have been nice, but this nickel is going to come in handy with Christmas around the corner. I still have to get shirts and what not but it's hard to find my size. The family will be outfitted soon. On top of that, yesterday my boss and I went in on ST for next year. Thank God tax time is coming.

With the exception of not really having any booze (except for a $10 bottle of champagne after the pennant clincher), I'm right with you money-wise. I started adding this up last night, and I'm around 2 grand (which includes the season ticket deposit for next year).

I've purchased $75 worth of books and magazines so far. I think I've got every one of them (Trib, Lindy's, Street & Smith's, SI Special, Sporting News w/ Gooch, SI w/ Pods, Gold Series, World Series Program, World Champions 2005). Two trips to Sports Authority, and mlb.com order, the SI package and commemorative cover, the igotothavethat bat, an official Rawlings World Series ball, the ticket lanyard....it adds up quickly.

That's exactly my stance. I've worn something Sox related (sweatshirt, tshirt, polo, pullover) just about every day since the series started. That doesn't include all the "crap" (shot glasses, mugs, flags, window clingies, books, etc.. )nor the WS Jacket I bought..

Good lord, you WOULD have to ask that!!! Anyway I've probably spent what amounts to be a king's ransom for all the memorabilia, t-shirts, caps, pennants, commemorative books, the SI subscription (and that's just for myself... we haven't even talked about the t-shirts and pennants for my two nephews!), but I'm still caught up in the sheer enjoyment of our World Championship so it's really no big deal for me. I'm also going to get the post-season DVD that will be out around Thanksgiving time, and I'm also willing to shell out the $$$ if they are wise enough to give us a huge DVD box set like they gave the Red Sox last year!

You can also look forward to a Scott Podsednik McFarlane Sports Pick in the summer of 2006, along with a Jose Contreras!

easily $600, probably around $750, don't know for sure. But I have another probably $250 left to spend at least. Boy this put a hole in my wallet, but it was well worth it. lol I basically bought a new wardrobe with all the shirts I got.

I bought my 1933 jersey, two ALCS shirts, an ALCS hat, some other stuff. Probably about 600 bucks or so.

Where did you find the 1933 jersey?

That's funny you mention that. I was just thinking the same thing about a few of my bobbleheads. I've kept the Hawk/DJ in the closet just because it's hard to display, but I might have to move Loaiza and Jose Valentin pretty soon too to make room.

I got it at Grandstand. I bought a 1959 Nellie Fox jersey earlier this season, and kept asking Josh (one of the workers there) if he was going to get any from 1933 in. He told me probably next season, then after game 2 of the World Series we went there and he showed it to me. I bought it complete with a Luke Appling 4 on the back.

Well I just spent 38 more dollars on two plaques. Got em at Sams Club, 18.42 apiece. One is the 1917 team with stats and one of the 2005 team. They had a bunch of different ones, some of shoeless Joe, Ozzie hoisting the trophy, J.D. with his MVP award, a really nice one of the flag spread out in centerfield at game one. There were two sizes, the larger ones were 18.42 and smaller ones for 14.42 give or take a few cents.

Wow, and all along I thought it was a typo and you meant 1983. Didn't even know they had 1933 jerseys for sale!

Dang Girl, teal takes fun out of it :redneck.

No parking ticket, no front teeth missing, no jail time. Even so, I still was able to have a blast!

I don't want to know.

From Divison champion T-shirts & hats to World Series Champion shirts & hats, pennents, newspapers, booze @ Puffers, ALDS tickets, food at the games, magazines, and any random crap in between I probably could've had a nice chunck of payment on my season tickets already done for next season.

Ah, to be young and single with little responsibility and lots of disposable income...

Just consider as the down payment on Paulie's contract.

Denver,

I'd like to think that's what we are doing with all the mega bucks we are shelling out. I wonder if there is a comparison with how much merch. the Sox are selling vs other championship teams. I see everyone around in Sox gear now and very little Flubs stuff.

I am right around $1400. I spent $1000 for a ticket to game 2 of the World Series. (Even typing that number makes me a little light-headed.) I have spent around $300 on various shirts, pennants, flags, etc., and I spent $100 to get the Sox logo tattooed on my arm.
