I haven't seen a thread about it here, but I remember CLTV having a story about some commemorative Red Line trains painted to celebrate the Sox?

Does anybody have any pictures or information about when those trains are going to be running? I'd love to get a snapshot of one of 'em - finally, something to bring together my love for the Sox and my 4-year-old's love of trains!

I seen those on the news myself. Pretty cool, if I do say so.

If I remember the story correctly, they're also going to come out with a special commemorative small scale version in December. Something to get that 4 year old for Christmas, perhaps?

I should hope so! I used to always take that train to Comiskey. It was known then as the Dan Ryan El. I'd love to take a "commerative train" to the park if I get to visit next year.:moonwalk:

In celebration of the Chicago White Sox, today the Chicago Transit Authority unveiled a train wrapped in a White Sox logo to honor the team. The train made its debut this afternoon at Sox-35th station on the Red Line.

“We are proud to serve White Sox fans traveling to and from U.S. Cellular field and we share this commemorative train with our customers as a way of honoring their loyalty and this special Chicago White Sox team,” said Chicago Transit Board Chairman Carole Brown. “We are excited to make this train part of Chicago’s championship celebration.”

“Throughout the playoffs, CTA transported an average of nearly 13,000 fans each game to and from the stadium to cheer on the White Sox,” said CTA President Frank Kruesi. “CTA customers can continue their celebration by riding the Chicago White Sox train.”

Two train cars are wrapped in artwork featuring the Chicago White Sox name, the black diamond white sock logo, the World Champion phrase in bold, black lettering on the train’s side, and the White Sox logo on its doors. In addition, the top of the 3200-series cars, rail car numbers 3311 and 3312, features the word “Chicago.” The interior of the cars feature congratulatory car cards for the team’s accomplishment.

The artwork is based on a wrap designed by Maryland-based M.T.H. Electric Trains for a Chicago White Sox O Gauge model train set that will be shipped in December. CTA modified the design to reflect the team's status as world champions and M.T.H. will be incorporating the CTA design in a two-car add-on set. This (http://www.transitchicago.com/news/ctaandpress.wu?action=displayarticledetail&articleid=129304) is a link to the press release from the CTA. I saw the story on the news yesterday on Channel 7, and the cars look sweet. I think the reporters said it would first travel on the southern parts of the Dan Ryan el, and eventually work its way up north. The funny this is the sports reporter said when it arrives at the Addison Street stop near Wrigley, a lot of people will get off the platform and walk to work.

Will WSCR have a billboard at Addison?

I believe I saw it today, coming out of the ground before the Fullerton stop. It looked pretty cool, but I was at a distance unfortunately. I'd love to get to ride in this car sometime.

Maybe they should have one that's painted blue with a big "L" on it.

Why didn't CTA put a picture in the story?:angry:
