With yesterday being the Feast of All Saints in the Catholic Church, I was wondering who the Catholic patron saint of White Sox baseball would be. I should note that St. Sebastian is the patron saint of all athletes, but I am looking for a saint more specific to the White Sox. The saint can be male or female.

And please do not send this thread to the Roadhouse be engaging in religous consternation ─ unrelated to this specific topic ─ amongst yourselves.

They could have a few...

St. Joseph (Joe, Josť)

St. John (Juan, Jon)

St. Paul

St. Mark

St. Frederick

St. Robert (Bobby)

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any Saints...

Tadahito
A.J.
Jermaine
Scott
Dustin
Cliff
etc.
and especially, no Saint Oswaldo :(:

The patron Saint of Venezuela is Our Lady of Coromoto. She looked after Venezuela's most famous son, and thus helped the Sox too.

St. Thomas Afrankus, nice!

Oh this is easy. The patron saint of the White Sox is Saint Jude, saint of lost and forgotten causes... until this year.

not officially a saint but Father Ignatius McDermott who died last year. He was a White Sox fan from Day 1. He founded the Haymarket Center in Chicago.

St.Thomas (Frank)

St. Thomas was also the doubter, who didn't believe Jesus was resurrected until he touched the wounds, just like everyone doubted the White Sox were any good until they won.

Without question, it would have to be St. Dominic.

A legend stated that before his birth, his mother dreamed she saw her son under the figure of a black-and-white dog, with a torch in its mouth. This legend seems to use the medieval pun on the name of the Dominicans, Domini canes, "dogs of the Lord".

Dominicans are known as the 'Blackfriars' on account of their habit:

In England and some other countries the Dominicans are referred to as Blackfriars on account of the black "cappa" or cloak they wear over their white habits, just as the Carmelites are known as "Whitefriars" for the same reason.

I believe that the Dominican order has some special significance
to the Irish, since it is an order that emphasizes teaching, or
at least that's what I was raised to believe.

Saint Jude...c'mon - that's the Cubs.

A.J.'s first name is Anthony. St. Anthony is the patron saint of--among other things--oppressed people and expectant mothers.

Until this year, I thought it might be St Jude Thaddeus.

But ST Jude is firmly entrenched in the north side, I'm afraid.

(Patron of "lost causes").

With all of the prayers the Mrs. and I sent his way (along with burning a candle down to the end), there can be no other patron saint of the White Sox.
