Given how nasty things were in the stands at the crosstown games I've gone to in the past, I can't imagine how much worse it'll be now. Hopefully the drunken idiot fights will be at a minimum this season.

I have to make it to one of those games, it will be so much fun.

I imagine not as many Cub fans coming down to the Cell this year for obvious reasons... :D:

This year will mark the 100th anniversary of the 1906 World Series between the Sox and Cubs. Do you think they will honor the series in some way?

Gee, I wonder which hat I'll wear to those games. *stares at closet full of hats* hmmm, let's see, 1983, no that's not it...1959 hat...no, not that one either...AH, THERE IT IS!! The old World Series Champions Sox hat of '05 should do the trick.

Yep. The Cubs have become the pre-2004 Red Sox. :roflmao:

I can't think of a better way of honoring it than by having the Sox open the can of whoop ass on the Cubs as they did 100 year earlier.

Well, that's what I'll be chanting for sure! As, for less Cub fans coming to the Cell I wouldn't hold my breath. I thought that once they stopped selling single game tickets through ticketmaster for the Cross-town Classic their numbers would go down, but there seemed to be more Cub fans than ever at the Cell. I would expect Cub fan numbers at the Cell to stay the same, but I would expect our numbers at The Urinal to go up big time.

The White Sox will be wearing throwback 1906 uniforms for the Sunday home games in 2006. Kinda like when they wore the 1917 World Series uni's on the Sunday home dates in 2001.

May 22 is a Monday, a day game on a Monday?

Guess I'll be calling in sick to work.

edit: The schedule says May 19,20,21.

On every Sunday home game? That's quite a bit isn't it?

Actually, I imagine that there will be many Cubs fans coming to the Cell. I think that a lot of them really want to see their team stick it to the World Champion White Sox. I've already seen posts on other message boards with Cubs fans talking about how the Cubs split with the Sox this year so that somehow means the Cubs were better than people realize.

I think you are going to see a lot of Cubs fans, particularly the 20-something frat types, with a chip on their shoulders looking to "represent" their Cubbie-ness.

If I was a Cubs fans (and thank the good Lord I'm not) I would NOT want to go anywhere near the Cell for a Sox/Cubs game. Just imagine the humilation you would be facing with nothing really to retort with minus the attendence trophey.

I went to my first Sox/Cubs game this year, I didn't enjoy myself nearly as much as I did at non-Sox/Cubs games. Ok, so the Sox lost that game I went to, but I don't know...I don't get all the hype over getting Sox/Cubs tickets.

1908! Clap, clap, clap clap clap! 1908! Clap, Clap, clap clap clap!

Absolutely, before it would have been kinda pathetic to have such a chant, but not anymore. I expect it early and often.

Those 1917 uni's were awesome! I almost wish those were their regular home jerseys!

The also had a winning record against the Cardinals.

Yet they couldn't win against the pathetic Reds and Pirates down the stretch and ended up finishing behind the Brewers.

But of course. That 6-game sample size tells you everything you need to know about the 2005 powerhouse Cubbies.

To be honost, this series won't have the appeal to me anymore as it used to. It's fun and all, but I won't get carried away like I once did or about the Cubs in general.
