Hopefully, this thread is not a dupe, but here goes...

My proposal is:

Winning is more fun. :)

Remember 1984's, "Let's do it again, like we did last summer"? I remember those commercials, I think it was Chubby Checker singing. For 2006, how about: Chapter Two- the repeat.

Bad idea. When they did "Let's Do It Again!", I guess they thought let's finish in 5th again.

The only slogan I can ever recall that didn't seem in retrospect lame because of ensuing circumstances was this year's "win or die trying." After the 2000 division-winning season, the Sox came up with the "it's time" campaign that included memories of the Bulls and Bears getting knocked off in the playoffs before becoming champions. It wasn't long into the season when "it's time" became "it's time they started winning."

As for "winning is more fun," I imagine walking people walking out after another tough one-run loss and saying, "winning was more fun."

I don't expect the Sox to have a frustrating season in 2006. I'm just worried that a slogan built around winning could backfire on the team if it gets off to a slow start.

I'd prefer to keep it positive, make it based on winning. It's better than the alterntive:

White Sox 2006: I hope we don't suck?

The Cubs shot was largely what I was aiming for with "Winning is more fun" in hopes of gaining crossovers. Yes, I'd accept them. Bring them up on the ettiquette. The Sox can use the extra $$$.

I like that one, although didn't they already use a variation of that one last year? (The radio commercials with Ozzie saying, "Winning is fun and fun is winning.")

Don't Stop Believin' sounds good as long as they stop playing that song! lol

I don't really think a ____. or Die Trying is going to be effective again, this is the 2000 world, everyone wants something new and innovative every year.

I like the Defend or Die Trying slogan, and I also don't think that it should be anything to do with the Cubs unless it is indirect, like Winning is more fun. That's a slogan that could be used for any team anywhere else, but adds a little extra meaning when you're trying to steal fans from a crosstown rival.

My suggestion would be something like: World Series starts with W.S.
or maybe: Jerry's Teams Repeat

maybe along the lines of getting season ticket holders or more fans in general, but i can picture a pretty sweet commercial with the help of Mccarver of course. Have different famous shots of american history. For example the famous shot of George Washington crossing the Delaware maybe show paulie in george's spot, then throw in the Mt. Rushmore of the Southside, followed by a shot of the 3 stooges of Row AJ and Crede in black in white doing a typical stooges bit (have voice-over hear saying "we include everybody") and finally dress Ozzie up like Uncle Sam, have him point to the camera and say "The White Sox Want You!!"

I'm gonna have to cast my vote for 'Defend or Die Trying'. It denotes an ongoing action that can be applied throughout the season.

'Good Guys Wear Rings' is mainly just a gloat. Doesn't really mean much if they're wearing rings while 30 games out.

I agree. When thinking of the Red Sox or Yankees (teams with long/storied traditions), there are no slogans to try and 'sell' their team. While I know that we live in Chicago and are normally thought of as the second team in this city, World Champion Chicago White Sox sounds just fine to me.

Sarah is right. No slogan but World Champions.... but since there will be one my vote will now be with:

edit: oh. I was 4 in 1984.

Well, if we use this slogan and are World Champions again, we can revive another musical blast from the past - The Beach Boys singing "Let's Do It Again" with AJ, Rowand and Crede.
