Friday night WEEI had 5 hours of Hot Stove Talk with Sean McAdam of the Providence Journal and Steve Buckley of the Boston Herald.
They were knocking the area around USCF so I called and it went like this
Buckley: 2 weeks ago Jim Caple and myself walked 4 blocks SOUTH of The Cell and there was nothing there.
Me. Steve, you have to go 4 blocks west or north.
McAdam I've been going there for 17 years and there is nothing to see.
BTW My wife and I are trying to remember the name of the other bar next to McCuddys and we seem to think it started with a C in the name. What was it?

The bar next to McCuddy's was called O'Briens. Nice place. Not as much character as McCuddy's. I poured beer on Ron Kittle and Julio Cruz at O'Briens after the clincher September 17, 1983.

Caple "reviewed" the Cell for ESPN's ballpark ratings series. He took the el directly to the park, left early because of a 3-hour rain delay, and cabbed directly back to his hotel. Somehow, he was able to generate an insightful and objective review of the "Pre-and-postgame bar-and-restaurant scene."
Caple = tool.

Funny. I never hear these people complain about not being able to hang around Yankee Stadium after games.

That is awesome!!! I totally messed up and failed to get Cruz' aoutograph during the reunion a few years ago. I guess I just wasn't thinking or recognize him. My Old Comiskey seat would look much better with his sig on it.:whiner:
Does the Juice still do radio work for the Mariners?

Next time they're in Chicago, tell them to walk 2-3 miles east of Wrigley Field. It'll do us all a favor. :rolleyes:
