I'd say they have to be one of the best 15 MLB teams ever. I'd say they are the 2nd best team in the last 25 years behind the 98 Yankees.

I would hate to agree with Peter Gammons...But he said that they Rank with the 84' Tigers, 89' A's and the 99' Yankees...as the 2nd best team in the last 25 years behind only the 98 Yankees...I can't believe I said that.....

Why shouldn't they be grouped with those teams? If you look at win totals in the regular and post-season, the 2005 White Sox are right up there. The only thing they don't have is the personalities that the 89 A's, 84 Tigers and 99 Yankees had.

I had a '98 Yankees World Series ring on my finger today. Any comparison to that team is welcome

Funny, I still think the 1994 team is the best Sox team I've seen. This team should compare favorably to the 1998 Yankees and 1989 A's.

I saw a quote in the Suntimes yesterday that Bobby Valentine wanted his Japanese team to play the Sox. Did anyone else hear about that?

KW and Ozzie just laughed it off, but that would be awesome to see!

Is comparison to the 89 A's really a compliment? Or do we assume that the lineup wasn't maxed out on roids yet?

98 Yankees and 84 Tigers I'll take. I actually thought the 1990 Reds were a terrific team. Wire to wire. Swept the heavily favored A's in the series. This Sox team could hang with any of them.

What about the 2001 M's? They didn't do well in the postseason but you have to have a pretty good team to win 116 in the regular season.

I agree. There was a sense that "this was the year". I went to the Jake to see them play and beat the Indians 4-2. Julio Franco, who was 100 years old then, hit a homer for us. I'm the only Sox fan within 100 feet of anywhere who stood up and clapped my hands red.

IMO, you have to win it all to be considered on of the best teams ever. And the M's didn't even make the series, they lost to the Yanks in 5 games. It took 5 games for them to beat Cleveland in the first round.
