One of only 5 teams to go wire-to-wire first place all the way to the World Championship. (Last team, 1990 Reds)

Second team to go 11-1 in the playoffs ('99 Yankees.) The only team with a better winning % were the undefeated (7-0) '76 Reds

19th team to sweep their World Series opponent.

Feel free to add to the list...

not exactly a record but how about 4 of the most exciting games anyone has ever seen? from Jenks striking out Bagwell in the 8th inning of game one to Konerkos homer to Podsys walk off to the 5 run inning off Oswalt to Blums hit to Uribes and Credes gloves to Dye comin through in the clincher. HOw can you get a better postseason? All those great moments and those dont even include Gooch's 3 run blast of Wells, Crede's 2 ALCS game winners and all the other great moments of the postseason. What A YEAR!

First time ever a team has won 3 straight World Series games by scoring the winning run in the 8th inning or later.

Only the 2nd team (1927 Yankees) in history to lead their league wire-to-wire and sweep the World Series.

Best ever winning percentage in the month of October (minimum 6 games played) in MLB History: 13-1

Most pitchers ever used in a world series game in game 3 I beleive.

I think they also might hold some sort of record for most runs scored seventh inning or later in the world series.

I believe Sox may be the first team to win 2 World Series games on the same day.

The longest (time wise) game in WS history and Pods 8 official at bats is the most in a WS game - both game 3 obviously

Not sure of this, but I believe only the second team to not lose ONE game on the road in the playoffs [since divisonal play in 1969].

I think Roger Clemens started an all-star game and world series game in the same season back when he was with the Yankees in 01. I just remember him being mentioned back when Buehrle started his game.

Tied with the 1950 Yankees for smallest run differential in a World Series sweep (+6)

I don't know if the sox are the only team to do this but this seemed like an oddity. The white sox clinched the series in a game by a score of 1-0. The white sox won opening day by a score of 1-0. Seems odd to bookend the season with 1-0 wins.

Randy Johnson did too that year

Isn't Bobby Jenks the heaviest man to ever play in a World Series game? I feel like that fact was shown during one of the WS games this past week.

I think that's pretty awesome--eat all you want Bobby just keep throwing the way you do!
