I searched for the topic but haven't seen anything on the four fingers the guys were putting up after blums homer. Was this in reference to the four bench players?

its referring to the bench players. they are 'group 4' to get batting practice.

I saw that too. I thought it was to signal the number of games to win the ring. But I have not heard any mention of it, esp. on FOX they are too busy trying to figure out how the Sox are still winning which of course is due to all the breaks we have gotten and it has nothing to do with our superior play.

I thought they were calling for a grand slam by Widger!

Here's an article about them, with some great quotes.

I assumed (incorrectly, apparently) that they were simply signifying "FOUR BASES!"

My thought process went like this when I saw Willie put up the "4"

- Four more outs to win..........nope
- Four more runs for insurance.......... weird but reasonable
- Four games to win a series...... ugh.. confusion has sent in.

Concluded it was an inside joke until I read the Group 4 article this morning. Now it makes total sense.

Great article! I was wondering what that was signifying as well. They need to market that!

And if a surge of Jenks-like energy hits Blum one of these nights, you never know what he might be capable of.

I didn't catch an explanation for why Geoff Blum and others in the dugout were holding up 4 fingers while in the dugout, after the Sox took the lead last night?

Anyone know the deal?

It was for Group 4...the batting practice group of bench players, including Blum, Widger, Harris and Ozuna.
