GUTSY performance by everyone tonight. Good to see Buehrle get the Save on just 3 pitches and a great performance by Jenks(2nd inning of work)/Marte(mostly).

Can we please get a few :gulp: :gulp: :gulp: for Geoff Blum??

I love our chances with Freddy on the mound against Backe (4.-- ERA in the NL :bandance: ).

Marte has stones that are just too freaking huge. I mean big ****ing stones. After everything he has been through recently, to get called out of the pen as the last man standing and pitch like that.

One more reason Ozzie is MOTY - he knows how to get the best out of his people and now we all see why he stuck with Marte time and time and time again when everyone here wanted his head.

I admit, I called the Blum homer. After the PK DP I said, "Come on Blum, jerk one into the seats and lets get on with the party." BOOM!

un freaking real...

Please don't pinch me... I don't ever want to wake up....

A good & terrible game by the Sox, at the same time. All that matters in the end is the W.

Too many heroes/goats to talk about now, but very proud of this team from climbing back from 4-0 and taking it in the wee hours of the morning.

I'm too tired and full of residual anger at the ****ty northside gathering at Mix (Kittle42, thanks for showing up) to post more. A win's a win.

That's about the only way I can describe that game. Just such a weird, crazy game full on unexpected things, from Oswalt blowing up in the 5th to Hermy finally getting an appearance and blowing a save to the fact that the game went 14 innings to Blum (Blum?!) winning the game. Just amazing, weird stuff. You gotta love playoff baseball. :D:

Welcome back Marte! We missed you. I have had some of the worst luck today. EVERY TIME I LOOKED AT A TV SCREEN, SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED!!!:angry::angry:
Now that that's out. My take on very long games is that both teams really failed to execute, hence making the game long. At least Oswalt's not as mechanical as we thought he was. Another gutsy outing by a Sox starter. Blum won the damn game and we're one win away from winning the whole ****in' thing!:gulp:

EDIT: How hard were Buck and McCarver trying in order to jinx our relievers?! They obviously read the Sports Guy's article. I want to hear at least one "DAMN!" tomorrow.
Also for no reason...
When a guy's on fire, do you have to kick him out a window?! And then the bad luck to land in a flammable chemical dump. Well that's just bad luck all around!
Also...WHY DID YOU STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND LET ME HIT YOU DOING 80?!

If Konerko legs out an inside-the-park HR in Game 4, Politte hits it 450 feet to dead center, or even if an alien hatches from Carl Everett's chest, I'm not going to be surprised anymore. This team has destroyed the entire concept of plausible resolutions to games.

Uribe gets that shot 10 feet to the left in the 5th and this game is over then. Another just missed HR. How many is that in the last few days. I mean the Sox are 20 feet or so from this series being a total rout. Of course no one wants to talk about our bad luck, just the opposite.

I don't fee lucky. I feel good. I don't feel like the team is playing over its head, just the opposite. They still don't like us and I still don't care...

WOW, Five hours of edge of your seat, heart in your throat, mind bogling action, Geoff Blum, doesn't that trade deadline deal look absolutely genius now, 1 more win and it's gonna be pandemonium, Unbelievable, and how about that for role reversal, Marte with the win and Buehrle with the save. I'm in such a daze, maybe because it's 1:30 in the morning or because the Sox are 1 win from history, just wow.

And another thing...even if the Sox blew this game, I think White Sox fans wouldn't have brought up the blown home run call, Dye being HBP and not being given 1B on it, etc. That strike zone was also a complete ****ing joke tonight. Just a terrible, frustrating, piece of **** excuse for a game that we wound up winning.

If Konerko legs out an inside-the-park HR in Game 4, Politte hits it 450 feet to dead center, or even if an alien hatches from Carl Everett's chest, I'm not going to be surprised anymore. This team has destroyed the entire concept of plausible resolutions to games.

Actually, I have money on the alien bursting from Carl's chest when he's at the plate, and then hitting the 450 HR. The guys at Fox are going to have a field day with that one.

A few points:

1. The umpire's strikezone was awful. You needed to throw it through a teacup.

2. Houston sucks. All those opportunities with those walks and you can't cash in? This should have ended before midnight.

3. Bobby Jenks was outstanding.

4. The game would have been over in 9 if they would have gotten that "homer" by Lane right....erasing point #2.

5. My brother-in-law is getting me a Blum jersey for Christmas. He is now officially the Cap Boso of the White Sox.

Talk about bleak expressions, how about the Astros dugout in the 14th? They did come to within a long ball of winning it in walkoff fashion, but they all had that look like they just saw the grim reaper. Down only 2-0 at that point, but defeated all the way.

I missed the game. Anything unusual happen?

I had to work tonight, which involved attending a city planning commission meeting. The Six had grabbed the lead before I left and the game was going into the bottom of the seventh on my car radio. When I got out, there was still baseball on the radio with the Astra's up. I missed Blum's home run, but I saw the bases-loaded walk before I drove home in the fog.

I missed the game. Anything unusual happen? No teal intended.

With all of the emotional investment I've put into the Sox during my life, I need to watch for what happens next.

Joe Crede broke the 4-0 deficit with a solo home run to the opposite field to start an inning. Then the Sox scored 4 more times that inning and batted around. Crede came up for the second time in the inning, and the baby Oswalt hit Crede in the ribs with a fastball on a 1-2 count, IIRC.

Crede immediately responded with "****ing b****" to Oswalt, slammed his bat on the ground and said something else to him as he was taking his base. My man Carl Everett took offense and got up on the top of the steps and yelled at Oswalt himself. Way to stick up for your teammate Carl.

I'm glad Buehrle came out of the bullpen and got the World Series save.

Nobody can criticize KW for acquiring Geoff Blum anymore. He won us an extra-inning World Series game.

This was one of the sweetest nights ever. As my husband paced and swore at the TV I stayed calm and told him "I think people have gotten spoiled and can't take even one loss anymore. Nobody wins them ALL." I love being wrong in this case because it sure looks like this team CAN.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!! My die-hard lifelong Cub fan friend who has never watched a Sox game in her life before Saturday told me today that she wished the Cubs were watching this and that they would learn from it and try to be like the Sox. I thought it couldn't get weirder than that. But it did.

Marte with a win? Thank you Damaso, for showing the fans who doubted you the only thing they want to see - getting batters out.

I am loving the Billy Idol look on Geoff.

When the announcer said, "Iguchi will bat next and then Dye," I hit the floor.

Has anyone else noticed that since the Eddings dropped third strike call, umpires have been way more decisive in their calls? The umpires think that dropped a decisive call is a correct call. Note how today's incorrect home run call, one umpire confidentely signaled home run, instead of consulting with other umpires.

Today's call proves that being decisive doesn't guarantee accuracy.

I felt bad for Hermanson at the time, though obviously everything worked out in the end. He was such a big part of this team when we were building our lead, but then the back problems started and he hasn't been able to pitch as much.

I would like to see Hermanson get the final out of the World Series, though obviously the situation will dictate that. If we have a 4-run lead or something like that, I really hope Hermanson gets the call.

What a crazy, awesome win. The most unlikely of heros, just a total team effort.

Bad execution, shaky relief....but they somehow pulled it off!

Screw drama and ratings, let's finish it tomorrow!!! :bandance:

Oh, and I'm definitely not a fan of the buzzing. We should all bust out fly swatters tomorrow.

As Konerko said, let's "get it done."

If Konerko legs out an inside-the-park HR in Game 4, Politte hits it 450 feet to dead center, or even if an alien hatches from Carl Everett's chest, I'm not going to be surprised anymore. This team has destroyed the entire concept of plausible resolutions to games.I'm lovin' it! :redneck

What a crock that was. That's turned like 1 out of 100 chances, especially by Butchersberg over there. Even after that, though, I knew we'd do something yet.Yeah, Astacio was meat. We won because our worst pitcher is WAY better than their worst pitcher.

Oh yeah, and because our fourth starter pitched better than their God-like first starter.

One more win -- I can't believe it.

If we can wrap this puppy up I'll be starting an apologies thread... I owe some to Paulie, Blum, Marte, and Duque.

While the tallies are semi split on Paulie, I think every white sox fan in the world owes Damaso an apology.

On a bad note: Before the game I named Uribe my pick to click, because I watched this game earlier on MVP Baseball lol and Uribe hit 2 triples and a homer off Oswalt. Not doing that anymore

On a good note: Getting into some weird rhyme game with My Girlfriend involving the name Blum(that actually started with her calling the Astros Pitcher " Pistachio", I told her hes gonna hit it a ton, she thought it would be Crede, I won 5 Cheese Burgers from Mcdonalds tommrow. Also told her when they Brought in Damaso I thought he would be much better, he has had a lot of time to find his breaking ball again, He earned his ring a long with everyone else.

Total Team Effort Tonight: Garland, rough early, shut um down late, EVERY MEMBER OF THE BULLPEN USED, Some Good, Some not so good. Willie Stole a base, Widger called 6 scoreless, Carl Singled, Timo, even though he was out, hit that ball solid, and then, The Man They Call Blum.

Just couldnt help but think just before he batted, that he had to get a hit. Many of us, Including myself totally, questioned Kenny in September, and Every move paid off. No Burnett meant Contreras Breaks out, No Aubrey Huff means I get to call Joe Crede Captain Clutch for the remainder of his white sox career. Kept Marte, and he was HUGE tonight. El Duque was awesome again. Didn't get Danny Beaz and trusted Jenks. Thats why hes the GM, and We're Super Fans. Kenny knew what almost all of us forgot in July, (as the cubs n twins prove every year) Championships are not won on paper, and he wanted the right guys, not the best.

1 more

So Happy I may get to see this before my back surgery the 28th. While the emotion doesnt change either way, the ability to jump up and down and scream will be much easier before the surgery then after.

Agreed. The great thing about Dustin though is he hasn't complained once about it and instead it seems like he's becoming bobby's mentor. Very glad to have Hermy apart of this team. That back is going to heal up and he'll be a huge part of this team come 2006.

Also... did anyone else see Paulie slamming a beer during his interviews... LOL... That is some confidence... drinking at 1am the night before a world series game... I thought I'd done enough of that for him...

If we sweep this tonight... then we went 11-1 in the post season... has anyone done that before? Just curious...

Yes, the Shankees did it. It was 1999. They beat Texas 3-0, Boston 4-1 and then swept the Braves 4-0. So if we sweep we would tie a record for best record in a single playoff by going 11-1.
