View Full Version : Garner: Clemens starting a potential game 5

I didn't see this posted anywhere so here this is. ESPN as well as other sites are reporting Clemens will start game 5 if one is necessary. This sounds more like Garner talking big about Clemens other than him being sure that he is going to start, but that is what he is saying. I guess he is getting a cortizone shot in the hopes that he can keep his leg together long enough to get to the bullpen.

All I can say is if he is gonna try to make a start with an injured leg I suggest possibly using the David Wells defense. Bunt, Bunt, Bunt and hope he hurts something.

I can't imagine him not at least trying to start game 5. Hopefully, that won't actually be necessary.

Clemens has not been up to par in Sept. or beyond. Start him. He isn't pitching like he once did.

I think we have seen Roger Clemens throw his last pitch. It was a great career Roger! See you in Cooperstown!

Well, Garner has to say that. He can't say that Wandy is starting Game 5. That would put a bunch of extra pressure on Oswalt and Backe that they just don't need.

There is no reason to fear Clemens in the playoffs. However, I'd still rather see Wandy Rodriguez.

The story also goes on to say nothing is definite that it all depends on how Roger responds to the cortisone shot.

This is standard practice for professional managers/head coaches....it's called mind games.

I think it will be like game one. Send him out and see what happens. This time, however, I see the Sox really getting to Rodriguez after they knock Clemens out.
