The same Dayn Perry who picked us to finish 4th in the division, IIRC. Funny how that preview article has somehow vanished from his articles database...

I'll give Dayn credit...

170 games into the season he finally figured out that this is a good baseball team.

Don't forget his articles bashing Podsednik and the entire approach to the game that this team takes.

I remember him more as Dayn "Scott podsednik is overrated because he doesn't hit home runs" Perry.

Yeah, that's a brilliant piece of work by Dayn.

Not this guy again. He does make an interesting point about the Astros as a fly out team, though. The difference is that Berkman is not choking (or hurt) like Vlad Guerrero, and Biggio has shown an ability to get on base.

he must have seen how many career home runs pods has against houston.

Look, I have had little respect for this kid. He has not given the Sox any credit all season and now while saying the Astros are a weak team, we'll win in 7. He also says our rotation is almost as good as the Astros. Ha! The 'Stros have, maybe, three studs. We have four. It is tougher pitching in the AL because the DH rule not only forces you to face 9 batters, but there are some darn good batters who are DHing because the body won't let them play in the field any more.

He can take his analysis and toss it where the rest of his 2005 dribble has gone-the bottom of the birdcage!

Yeah, but let's see how they do against our pitching staff.

I agree but an alleged "scout" quoted in the Trib (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/cs-051020soxastrosscoutsview,1,6708092.story?coll=cs-home-headlines) does not. He says that Andy "career 3.78 ERA" Pettitte is better than anybody on the Sox. LMAO! He failed to explain why a great pitcher like Pettitte got lit up for 5 runs in 6 IP against St. Louis.

The so-called scout must be Dan McGrath.

It all adds up to this: White Sox in seven.
Am I the only one worried about suffering a heart attack if this goes seven games?

White Sox in four!

I can live with THAT prediction.

I find it funny how he rips apart the Astros and outlines how we're pretty much better than them in every way, but...it's gonna take 7 games.

As for "the White Sox pitching staff is almost as good as the Astros." No, it's better. Their 3.46 ERA in the NL is about a 4.0 in the men's league. In turn, our 3.75 in the AL is more like three-and-a-quarter in the wuss league. Then of course we have not three, but four top-quality starters who are all peaking at the right time and are fully rested. Add to that we have more speed, more power and a better defense and I only see two home games for us.

Basically, the only way we lose is if we flat out choke.

Add to that we have more speed, more power and a better defense . . .

And (pursuant to my post in another current thread) a much better bullpen.

The 'Stros only chance is a Sox-esque string of dominant pitching performances. A sudden collapse by the Sox is extremely unlikely, given our absurd record over the past 3+ weeks.

Completely agree with all of this. I would also say that the White Sox lineup is better at pretty much every spot in the line-up (except perhaps Ensberg's spot).

I would also like to know when Roger Clemens last started a game when the temperature was under 50 degrees. He certainly hasn't had such a start in Houston and it seems he has been able to cherry-pick some of his early season road starts. I think the Sox should be forcing him to make some plays on bunts early on in the game.

Let's hope that Crede doesn't get into debating the merits of Pitt the Elder against those of Lord Palmerston with the head bartender at Puffer's, lest he be rendered unable to play.
