My friends pointed out to me how in yesterday's DI the front page story was the Sox winning the pennant. Well on the front page it said "continue on p a-6, SOX," but on page 6 the story was not continued with "SOX," it was continued with "sox blow really hard."

What the **** was that about?

This does not please me.

I will assume it was mischief and not something actually meant for print. Hopefully they will print an apology.

Guess I'm going to have to cut off my contributions as a *football booster*--that'll show em! :redneck

Yeah, the DI hasn't been that great. Did you read the article by Ian Gold last week titled "Trite Sox"? I sent him an e-mail longer than his article. In his article today, he said he received about 25 IMs and 40 e-mails. Maybe because his article sucked.

The DI was always the biggest piece of tripe, I stopped reading that thing altogether after a few years. (except for the crossword and comics).

The sport section always loved to put in Sox suck, Cubs rule articles.

The DI is good for:

-comics (especially the locally done ones like I Hate Pam and Thoughtless)
-crossword
-if you want a laugh the opinion's page (especially any DI editorial... ha)
-the occassional column relating to UI sports
-the outrageous items in the police blotter

I wouldn't get too worked up over this - its probably a pissing match between a Sox and Cubs fan on the staff.

Actually I told him he'd fit in at ESPN or the Tribune a couple times in my e-mail.

As far as their sports columnists go, Dan Berrigan sucks too, but that's more of a personal thing.

They printed a correction. Everything is OK now.

In the Oct. 17 of The Daily Illini, the headline on page A-7 reading "White Sox blow really hard" was incorrect and left as placeholder text while waiting for a finalized headline. The headline should have read "Southsiders head to Series."

Haha, I think that's actually pretty funny - in a moronic way, of course. Especially the retraction.

The only thing weaker than professional pseudo-journalists with no athletic skill slamming a successful sports team is students aspiring to be pseudo-journalists who believe they have license to slam a successful sports team.

Ah, Chambana....you might as well just move Northbrook 120 miles south.
