I haven't been able to find any screen caps of the front pages for the Sun-Times, Tribune, or Southtown. I want to frame one of them for my sports wall, so I need you guys in Chicago to tell me which one is the best-looking so that I can go ahead and order it.

Thanks.

Go Sox!

I don't buy the Trib. Personally, I like the Daily Southtown. It reads:

At Last CHAMPS

Underneath is a great shot of the team hugging each other on the field. The rain drops are visible, they appear to be frozen in time.

I say the Tribune, if only for the pure joy of knowing they had to print it.

the Trib's had some real nice SOXtober sections that encase the regular sports section... I''ve been collecting those.

Hurts so good
The White Sox are in the World Series. Please, somebody pinch me. A little lower ... a little lower ... ahhhhhhh that's the stuff.
Parting is sweet
Not saying that the White Sox are confident, but I just received an invitation to Ozzie Guillen's retirement party.

The Trib, Daily Herald and USA Today all have the same headline..."Party like it's 1959".

They all have pretty good pictures - I just wish one of them would have gone with a traditional "Sox Win the Pennant" headline, instead of trying to get cute with references to a Prince song.

I'm going to get as many different papers as i can and out of some of them make a kind of collage with White Sox pictures.

Fenway, do you have any copies from earlier in the playoffs? when they clinched the central and won the ALDS?

The fan base has spread far from its traditional Bridgeport/Canaryville roots, reflecting an ever-changing city, and the displaced haven't been particularly zealous about filling a ballpark to which they have been slow to warm.

Just couldn't resist getting one final shot in, huh Cubune? The greatest day in Chicago Sports history in a generation or two, and this how you protect your investment.

And cwsox still doesn't see any bias.

The Springfield & Peoria papers have to cater to more Cards and Cubs fans, so its expected that they wouldn't blow a Sox win up too big.

I'd be curious to see the News-Gazette out of Champaign.

The (Munster) Times did the "Party Like It's 1959" headline as well, with a great picture of the pitchers hugging. (Last time they had a picture engulf the front page was when the Pope died.)
Gary Post-Tribune just simply put it this way..."YES!"
The Sun-Times has a great stretch poster pic in the main section.
I bought them all...even the Tribune.

I was rather disappointed in the fact that the Rockford paper had a local football team winning the NIC-9 championship as their front page story yesterday rather than the Sox moving within a game of the WS.

This is nice to see though.

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can purchase SunTimes for each of the ALCS wins? I emailed them but they never replied back.

On a related note, when I was in Chicago last week I had collected the SunTimes from the ALDS games 1-3 and a special Sunday Tribune. Then, the evening of Game 1 of the ALCS, I go back to my room only to find that the housekeeper had taken my collection. I couldn't believe it! I was seething!!! I really let the hotel manager have it. He vowed to replace them all, but couldn't get them before I left town, so they are supposedly sending them to me.

Sheesh!

Do you order a paper for framing? Or just stick one of the papers in a frame? If you do that, does it fade?

Gimme some advise!

I thought the Trib offered minaturized front page laminates? Maybe it's only for a select few historic events. Hopefullyt this qualifies.

I think the papers fade pretty quickly. I had some of the papers from when the Bulls won titles in the early 90s, and I ended up just tossing them. I think you'll either need to order a laminate/re-production from the Trib directly or maybe figure out a way to print a copy off your computer. Not sure how that would look though.

I bought the Sun Times this morning before school and it didn't have that picture on the front page. Mine has Pauly, Jermanie, and one other player on it (which I forget). Apperently, the Sun Times has different "collectible covers" out there.

Yes, I also got up early this morning to go out and buy the Sun Times before school, and it had the same cover you speak of.

I will frame this puppy with Pride, right next to our World Series Victoy one aswell.

Not sure how that would look though. My wife worked for years as a picture framer, so I know a bit about this -

Just sticking it in an off-the-shelf frame will cause it to deteriorate fairly quickly over time. Ready-made frames almost never contain UV-protective glass, and the matting and backing materials are almost never acid-free. The UV Glass is less of an issue if the picture doesn't get much direct sunlight, but the non-acid-free mat & backing can cause the paper to break down relatively quickly. You can probably take the paper into a place like The Great Frame Up and have it nicely done up for a RELATIVELY low price (for custom framing). Most people are somewhat surprised at how expensive custom framing can be, so you may not want to bother.

Some shops (TGFU comes to mind, again) will cut acid-free mats, acid-free backing and UV Glass to whatever size you want, usually for a fairly low cost, and then you can just put it back together yourself.

I have the same cover as you do. My tribune cover is different too, it has Ozuna and others running out of the dugout. I thought maybe it was cause I was in Milwaukee.

The Sun-Times sucks, I'm so dissapointed. I've waited my whole life to see this paper and it's lame. World Class? That sucks. And the picture stinks. The Tribune looks cool, but come on it's the Trib...I can't frame that. And the Southtown is a hick paper, I'm not framing that.
