View Full Version : Sox at Midway!!!!!

10-16-2005, 03:48 PM
Just wondering if the Sox are coming home in the wee hours, or if they're waiting until tomorrow. If anyone is in the know regarding their arrival, please post.

10-16-2005, 03:54 PM
Yeah I'd like to know when they are coming in to! I wanna go see them!!

10-16-2005, 04:09 PM
Making sense of this all, I bet (not really knowing, but I bet) that if they win it tonight...they don't come home until later in the day. I am sure that they will have tomorrow off for practice if they win.

Just a thought.

According to Scott Reifert's blog, the Sox will be coming home shortly after the game, win or lose. He wrote that they will likely arrive sometime between 4 and 6am.

What time in the morning will the Sox get into town? Post up details as they are found out.

I heard A.J. say he can't wait to get back to Chicago and hopes fans are there cause he would like to shake some hands.

Hey MrF, if you go make sure you take pictures for our buddies Jeff and RobotDoctor... :)

Meeting them at the airport should be reserved for lifelong fans, so between that and needing to fly out tomorrow, I'll be sound asleep.

That sounds right, they'd be using the charter/general aviation area of the airport, not schlepping through the terminal.

10-17-2005, 01:32 AM

Original post deleted - I was looking at the wrong screen:

From looking at traffic scheduled to fly into Midway from flightarrivals.com, it looks as if they MAY be on a charter labeled United 9903 arriving at 5:03am. They are scheduled to be leaving Ontario, CA (Orange County airport closes after 11pm) at 1:47am Chicago time.

united doesnt usually fly into midway so that should be it Yes they do,but it is their low cost airline "TED".The arrival of the Sox charter operated by united already posted here is correct.

10-17-2005, 02:08 AM
I'm gonna take a quick cat nap and head to Midway from Bridgeport around 4:30 a.m.

Sleep is overrated right now.

10-17-2005, 02:11 AM
forgot about TED my fault

Mostly tame, but it was awesome to show up and let the Sox know we're behind them. Kenny Williams got a big cheer early when he stopped and waved, but Ozzie stole the show when he stepped out of his limo. Fred was with him with a giant cigar, looked like he partied all the way home on the plane.

We got a good look at Rowand as he drove by sticking out the roof of his pickup. Saw most of the starting position players, minus Dye, Uribe, and Iguchi. Another guy was hanging out of his car, I thought it was El Duque, but my eyes aren't the best and the general buzz was that it was Willie Harris. Don't ask me how I could confuse those two, it was dark and I was busy screaming.

Great crowd. I'm going to try and savor this week. My instict is to get the Series started, but we're the A.L. Champions! Fortunes can change at any moment, but nothing that happens from here on out can take that away from us. We're the A.L. Champs!

I saw them, I just got home from there. Lots of people out there to meet them and it was a great time. I have now been up for more than 24 hours but I don't care. I will be tired all day today but it is worth it. I want to absorb every bit of this.

10-17-2005, 08:04 AM
Sweeet! :bandance: I was asleep probably dreaming of being at the Cell for the World Series.

How big was the crowd there? Was it bigger than last time they landed at Midway? That crowd was impressive!

10-17-2005, 08:11 AM
yes and there were metal barriers this time, i got to shake Ozzie's hand because i was on the other side of the st. past the red light, me and about 10 other people ran up to his white limo, and said thanks, i was right next to the guy with the Scott Podsednik/Ozzie Ball sign with the cheetah on it. what an amazing experience.

Go Sox!

Too bad it was just drunks there greeting the team. (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/chi-051017soxhome,1,5275353.story?coll=chi-news-hed)

The smell of liquor also radiated from the gathering, but everyone was civil.
