I am a LONG-TIME Chicago-boy and Sox fan but I got a job transfer to Minneapolis last year. I still follow the Sox closely but being up here, I don't get a lot of the Chicago media back-stories.

I keep seeing posts that read "Bring Back Hawk" and such.

What happened to him? Where did he go?

I'm guessing they mean bring him back to the broadcasting booth (we've had to sit through Chris Berman, Buck, etc.)
