View Full Version : A different spin on the Erstad trade rumor

From Dave Van Dyke:
The Angels' Darin Erstad to the White Sox for a pair of young pitchers and a centerfielder, perhaps Chris Singleton. The deal might be contingent on signing free-agent-in-waiting Erstad to a long-term contract.

This is a strange rumor, considering the White Sox are in a payroll-slashing mode.

"But Darin Erstad comes along only once in a while," said a White Sox source. "He's worth whatever it takes."

maybe KW was just blow smoke up our arses with the 'cutting of payroll' crap. but monkey's may fly out of my butt and i know that is highly unlikely. lol

but if they do have a chance on getting him without giving up rauch, burly, borchard or honel, go for it.

A trade like that would make some sense, but I really don't understand this Erstad infatuation. The Sox should spend a little more (in money and/or talent) and get Brian Giles.
