You may have to go up and down the dial like i did when they put nascar on the local espn affiliate up here.
I finally found it hiding WAY OUT at the end of the dial.

Around Detroit you should be able to pick up WMVP pretty well unless there's a thunderstorm. It's got a great signal to the east because the transmitter is switched to that direction at night to avoid interference to another station on 1000 in Seattle. All 50,000W are kicked eastward, so your odds of picking it up are pretty good.

If not, there should be an ESPN-affiliated station in Detroit. You might try calling WMVP and asking them if they can tell you.

ESPN in detroit is 1270 .... (that was the radio station that was playing the game on Friday night) Last night, the red wings game was on that station and I was able to get the game from the Chicago Station 1000.

1270 has a horrible reception... in you're near Ann Arbor try 1050 am, I think they're still ESPN radio.

In the evening you should be able to get 1000am out of Chicago, I used to get it all the time in when I lived in Ann Arbor.. I can still get it here in State College, PA at night.

IF you had XM radio, you would have this issue. XM radio is well worth the investment.
