OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland Athletics announced today the club has reached an agreement with Ken Macha on a three-year contract to manage the club through the 2008 season. Macha, 55, made his Major League managerial debut with the A's in 2003 and guided Oakland to a 275-211 record in three seasons with the club, which is the fifth best record in baseball over the last three seasons. His .566 winning percentage is the second best mark in franchise history to Dick Williams, who compiled a .603 winning percentage from 1971-73.

I guess they didn't like the options out there. Boy does Billy Beane look the fool now...

I'm surprised Macha was willing to come back after what Beane did to him. I'm not so sure I would be that forgiving.

LMAO at Beane.

As expected, not many people would be willing to manage a team in which the general manager breathes down the backs of their neck following every questionable decision.

Oh, but I suppose this was merely Beane's plan all along. He's a genius, and always correct, so it must have been the case.

I also think Ken found what else out there wasn't as much as he walked away from

I hope you are wrong.

This is almost as dumb as the time McCaskey annouced he hired Dave McGinnis before he hired him. Billy Beane is a moron.

I'm surprised Beane didn't go after Lou Pinella.

I'm not. That would be a horrible match. Lou would kill Billy.

It looks like Beane was going to go after Larry Bowa...
