SOX STEAL GAME 2
In the second consecutive tight ball game in the ALCS, the White Sox stole a 2-1 victory on a controversial play in the bottom of the ninth inning (http://chicago.comcastsportsnet.com/view_content.asp?ID=17270). A.J. Pierzynski struck out with two outs in the ninth, but ran to first base and was ruled safe. Homeplate umpire Doug Eddings ruled the ball hit the ground, as third-string catcher Josh Paul failed to tag Pierzynski. Pablo Ozuna was put in as a pinch runner for Pierzynski and advanced to second on a stolen base. Joe Crede knocked in Ozuna in the very next at bat on a double to left field to lift the Sox to the victory. Throwing just 99 pitches, 71 for strikes, Mark Buehrle pitched a complete game, taking home his second career postseason win (http://chicago.comcastsportsnet.com/view_content.asp?ID=17268), while his counterpart Jarrod Washburn gave a commendable 4 2/3 innings while battling strep throat. The series shifts to Anaheim for Games 3-5 all knotted up at one game apiece.
