BOSTON -- Cincinnati and Detroit traded outfielders Tuesday, with Dmitri Young going to the Tigers and Juan Encarnacion heading to the Reds.

The Seattle Mariners acquired catcher Ben Davis from the San Diego Padres in a six-player trade Tuesday afternoon, according to SportsLine.com sources.

In addition to Davis, the Mariners received infielder Alex Arias and pitcher Wascar Serrano in exchange for pitcher Brett Tomko, catcher Tom Lampkin and Triple-A shortstop Ramon Vazquez.

Seattle also sent $1 million to San Diego to complete the deal, according to a source close to the negotiations.

The Reds are morons! They could've traded Young at the deadline last summer and held somebody up for top prospects or a couple of decent major leaguers - instead they dump him to Detroit for a .240 hitter.

Is KW doing double duty??
Might as well, since Uncle Jerry won't let him get ANYONE for the South Siders this winter!

Yes, the Reds got ripped off big-time. Juan Encarnacion sucks. End of story.

Is that AAA shortstop from Seattle one of their minor league studs (they have two stud shortstops). If so, that's the kind of trade that KW should have made.

Yes he is. I would have loved to see KW trade for him, but that would be a smart move.

"Im looking into getting a younger Royce Clayton. No stud shortstops wanted here!"

I was afraid he might be.

That's the problem with this team - we NEVER make an inspired move.

And that's the other problem with this team.

We always have great minor league talent - usually pitching. Always. But what do we ever do with it? Nothing, except let it wilt away or prove it isn't major league ready.

Trade some of our young pitchers for their young shortstops or centerfielders.

Except in this situation, Seattle really doesn't want more young pitching. Looks like they're trying to trade some young players in order to fill some holes.

They have been looking at centerfielders too. Thought they were set on Cameron. All those wins, they sure arent worried about chemistry. Sound familiar?

Sort of speaking generally about not using or moving our young pitchers, be it to seattle or anywhere else.
