Does anyone have any idea who will be doing the play by play on Fox for the ALCS? I hate watching games on Fox so I usually turn on the radio but I can't tonight because I'm going to a buddy's and he has the delay due to the dish.

I believe it's Joe Buck, and Captain Obvious, Tim McCarver. "Now, with a man on 3rd, the pitcher wants to get this batter out. If he gets a basehit, the runner on 3rd is going to score. However, if he doesn't give him anything to hit, and he walks, then he's going to be on first base..."

Don't forget ol' uncle Lou Piniella, who will be in the booth as well for this series.

"And there's a hit! The runner does indeed score, and now the team has one more run than they did just five minutes ago. That will go a long way to winning this game, as you have to score more runs than the other team. If this next guy can drive in a run, they'll have even more runs, as 2 is a larger number than 1."

McCarver said something last night during the game that just screamed Captain Obvious. It was something to the effect of, "If Santana can get this out here (there were two outs), that'll prevent the Yankees from scoring the tying run." Gee... ya think?!

Actually, I think it's going to be Thom Brenneman doing the PBP. He used to do Cubs games back in the day, so I hope he doesn't carry an underlying bias. But I've always liked Brenneman, so I'm pleased. Very professional, good voice, sense of humor. Without a doubt a major step up from Chis Berman.

It will be interesting to see what Uncle Lou does in the booth... could he be auditioning for a mananger job in Chicago if Ozzie retires after the World Series?

Also, as a random aside: Does anyone else think Thom Brenneman sounds just a little bit like Principal Skinner from the Simpsons?

This thread sucks because I didn't know who was doing play by play? Wow, it must be great to be perfect.

No, it will be Joe Buck (thankfully) and Tim "A walk is just as good as a home run" McCarver. Sweet Lou will be the third man in the booth. If Piniella is auditioning for anything it is a career as an announcer for when he decides he is done managing.

Thom Brennaman and Steve Lyons are announcing the NLCS games. I believe Bob Brenly will be the third man in their booth.

Ha ha ha ! I heard that. During that 2nd inning, when Colon left the game with a 3-2 count on Cano I believe, and Santana had given up a couple of hits and 2 runs had scored, he said something to the effect of "He does not want to put this hitter on base to prolong the inning". What a dope.

Anyone remember back in either 1991 or 1992, when the Braves clinched the N.L. pennant ? McCarver had been very critical of Deion Sanders for playing both football & baseball, because during the playoffs, he was too exhausted to play, and was not a factor in the series. After they clinched, Deion's running around the locker room during the celebration saying "Where McCarver at ? Where McCarver at ?" and then proceded to dump a couple of coolers of icewater on him and run away. McCarver kept saying "You're a real man Deion, you're a real man aren't you ?" He was pissed. I hate,...er..strongly dislike BOTH of them, so I was hoping they'd come to blows, and both get hurt. No Deion in the World Series, No Timmy in the broadcast booth. Heh heh heh....

Looking forward to Buck, but man is McCarver brutal. I mean, he was flat awful last night. Just no interesting analysis, and he was flat wrong with most of his predictions about managerial strategy.

Let's hope for a sweep. Then again, Buck/McCarver are probably the WS crew also. Oh well. Small price to pay, I guess!
