My feelings on the Red Eye and Red Streak are well-documented here.

Both the Tribune and Sun Times do it to keep Metro out. Metro has hurt subway readers in Philly, Toronto, Boston and others.

A lot of people under 30 don't read real newspapers

The Red Eye is free... so I take it every morning when I board the CTA. If they didn't hand it out I certainly wouldn't pay for it; but its entertaining enough for the 20 minutes.

I read the papers online later on in the day.

I know. What bothers me is that the "solution" to this appears to be handing them the free equivalent of the "Us Magazine" version of their newspapers, with flashy photos of Jennifer Lopez or some such person on the front.

Red Eye = Chicago Tribune = WGN Radio = WGN T.V. = CLTV = Chicago Magazine = Owns the Cubs. Red Eye is good for lining you bird cage, or picking up doggy poo.

It is crap. I mainly just flip to the sports and then the pages about the bars; then its pretty much the end of my ride.

I know how many of you feel about the Trib and I agree, but I've certainly enjoyed picking up both here in Champaign. I want to fill a rubber made with as much October press as I can. It's also "funny" how the trib is .75 and Suntimes reamins the same.50 as it is in the city...

I like redeye. red streak is horrible.....redeye has an actual staff, and thier sports section is 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 0000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than the cubtimes(no moronotti or chris de luca)....it's not the ny times, but it's a hell of a lot better than the entire cubtimes(and cheaper too)
