Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen seems to be implying that it's the Indians who are the chokers. (David Richard/Lorain Journal / Associated Press)

"We played so well for so long, we were bound to hit a tough stretch," Indians (http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/team/71591) pitcher C.C. Sabathia (http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/player/85088) said in a somber Cleveland clubhouse. "It just happened in the last week of the season."

This AP writer seems to want a job on the Cubune staff ...

I didnt read the article but if I had to guess its just Ozzie poking fun at all the people who said we were choking.

That picture needs to be a tag.

That picture needs to be a tag.

In the future, should we ever require a little more ironic "Fire Ozzie" tag, that would do...

Let's hope it doesn't come to that soon...

Perhaps I missed it, but I didn't see anything in the article about Ozzie gesturing that the Indians choked. The only place where the choke gesture is mentioned is in the photo caption.

There's gotta be an "I live for this" commercial with Ozzie as the star flashing his choke sign!

WTG Ozzie!

I liked his move in Detroit on Thursday when Ozzie waved his arms like he had a huge stomach which is his new sign for Bobby Jenks to come in. I think Farmer mentioned it over the weekend.

In the 2003 NLCS when Ozzie was the Marlins 3B coach, Ozzie did give the choke sign to Cub fans down by the Cub dugout during the late innings in the 7th game! The Cubune made mention of it in one of the re cap articles. :D:

I remember that. It just shows, Ozzie speaks the truth.

I think it is great, but as said already I think it was ripping on the press calling us chokers. Ozzie seems to respect his opponents too much to do something like that to the team was breathing down our neck playing fantastic ball til a week ago.

From Mariotti's article today:
http://www.suntimes.com/output/mariotti/cst-spt-jay03.html

While I'm at it, let me tell Ozzie Guillen that he did his Wacky Uncle image no favors when he became the first major-league manager in known history to flash a double-fisted choke sign at a mascot -- Slider, employed by the Indians -- and the Jacobs Field fans during a pitching change Sunday.

Ozzie was getting a ton of grief from the fans whenever he came out of the dugout, boos and obscene gestures. I think it was just some payback.

The guy that did the last "From the Cubicle" article on the Cubune's website made mention of this also. I thought he was joking.

Jay Moronotti needs to sit his fat butt down on the bench where the Cubs are keeping it warm for him!! I hated his column today! What a poor excuse for a Chicago "journalist"

i know everyone was wondering what the ole jby thinks about this...actually i don't like it. i firmly believe in karma and turnaround is fair game. who gives a crap if everyone said we're choking or we can't win. just go out and win it. i'm not expecting ozzie to be a 100% professional but this is kinda weak

I heard it was a gesture at the damn mascot! He was playing along with the buffoon mascot, c'mon this is typical much ado about nothing from the media. It was even a topic on around the horn. I laugh when I hear how the Sox were chokeing until the Indians choked worse. Please, the wire to wire A.L central champs did not benifit from a choke to earn the title.

It was assumed Guillen was gesturing to Cleveland fans at Jacobs Field, and that's how it was portrayed by some media outlets. Guillen explained he was gesturing to the Indians mascot after the mascot stood on the dugout and pretended to put a jinx on the skipper.

"The whole game, the one lady was a Cubs fan all over me but in a good way. We were playing around. I signed balls. I said, 'Look, I'm going to bring in a 70-year-old man to close the game (Orlando Hernandez) and you bring your fat man (Bob Wickman). You got one bigger than mine (Bobby Jenks).' Back and forth like that. "All of a sudden I come down there and the mascot goes like this (making a jinx gesture) and I went (gives choke sign). Then they took the picture and all of a sudden it was like after the game I was telling people they choked."
