Us'ns who were middle school/junior high age around 1961 or '62 might remember a show on channel 7 (WBKB) called "Clock-a-Doodle-Day" (later called just "The Clock Show") which was a morning show intended for that age group. The host was a guy named Dale Young. It was actually modeled after the Today Show, featuring news and entertainment, but geared for what we'd now call 'tweens. The band on the show was Captain Stubby and the Buccaneers. Oddly enough, the news reporter was bassist Tiny Stokes.

I also remember Captain Stubby doing the morning farm show on WLS radio, a holdover from the Prairie Farmer days. It was odd, though hearing him introduce records by Elvis Presley, etc. The article mentions his co-host by his full name. Fans of Chicago radio and TV from that era remember him just as Chuck Bill.

I too recall Stubby from his WLS days, it was a lousy show

I saw him at Leiters Ford, Ind"s Strawberry Festival around 1969

that is a very small town near Culver, Ind there were plenty of

country bumpkins at show...including my girlfiend & me I guess
