If I'm not mistaken, Hoyt only had 24 walks all year. I don't know the record but I'll bet it's close. Helluva year.

And then, what, out of baseball in 3 years or so?

A waste. But it did bring us Ozzie Guillen.

I wonder what would have happened if Hoyt had pitched with short rest in the last game of that series.....

Rather than comparing them against eachother, I'd ask the question "Which rotation was better than its competition?"

The 2nd best rotation in the AL Playoffs this year is Anaheim. (Colon, Lackey, Byrd, Washburn, Santana)

Compare the gap we have over them now, to the gap between the 83 Sox and the 83 Os. (Martinez, McGreggor, Flannigan, Palmer, Boddicker, Davis)

I'd say the 2005 Sox pitching is the best of the playoff teams by a greater margin than the 83 Sox were over the Os. (The 83 Dodgers...now that was a great staff with Fernando, Reuss, Welch, Hooten and Pena)

Seeing the letter "W" next to Paul Abbott's name... yeah, I'd leave off 2000 as well.
