With 2 hits in his first 2 AB's Ichiro becomes the first player in MLB history with at least 200 hits in his first 5 seasons.

With all the focus on the "long ball" over the last few years, it is refreshing to see a classic hitter going for average. Hit it where they ain't, Iguchi!

Don't you get it? If you don't hit for power you are not a good player. Hitting for average means nothing if you don't have the power to back you up.

Yes, congrats to Ichiro. Really, he is one of my favorite players to watch. He is an incredible hitter.

I was at Safeco last night for a boys night out. Ichiro was 4 for 5 - just a pleasure to watch. FYI - Mariners had 34,000 in attendance. It was Dan Wilson's last game as well. The crowd was great. Moyer pitched another gem. That's a nice ballpark.

That's an awesome feat! Congrats to Ichiro. He's simply one of the best players to play the game, and most likely a future HOF'er.

I remember the game he nailed Josh Paul trying to go 3B on a single to RF and Paul was just stunned the ball beat him by so much, and the throw was so accurate! Shades of Roberto Clemente out there in RF.

Ichiro is useless, an outfeilder that doesn't hit for power. Just ask Dayn Perry.

And there were people here in a thread about 6 weeks ago voting for Podsednik in a poll of who you'd rather have at leadoff.
