This may be different than the Monday one that Gene posted, but according to the Score, a pep rally tomorrow (Friday) at the Westin on Michigan Avenue.

Unfortunately, Rogers read it real fast, so I didn't catch the times, but this is what I did catch:

- Nancy Faust will be there
- Huge greeting card will be there for fans to sign
- Free ice cream

There may have been more, but he was ending the show and said it real fast. I can't find any other info on this, so best thing may be to call the Westin tomorow morning?

It would be nice if some of these things could be during mid-to-late afternoon hours...

Figures they do this the day I have a lunch meeting.

I second the "why the hell can't they do something when people aren't at work" motion.

Free Ice cream on the coldest day in Chicago since April, Durring Work hours on a Friday? This has to be so the Trib can take pictures off all the homeless people line up around Nancy!

Is it the Westin at:

320 North Dearborn Street?

I haven't heard ANYTHING about it. Shouldn't they let people know about this if they expect a good turnout?

Yep. Friday night would have gotten a huge turnout instead of afternoon. Instead, most Sox fans are at work and have no hope of getting down to the Westin.

That would be bad for business for the company that Controls a Majority of the Media outlets in this City... Come on people!

In 2000, they held a Sox pep rally at the same place, and same time of day. Not many people showed up because it wasn't promoted at all, but of course all the local news stations were there.

If there was good turnout, the media wouldn't be there to report about those apathetic and indifferent Sox fans....

I just got back from there. I didn't know about it either until I read it on here and so I was able to walk over there. It was on the sidewalk in front of the Westin Hotel at Michigan & Delaware. An organ was set up for Nancy and Ron Kittle was there signing glossy photos of himself in his 1983 uni. Ice cream was served in plastic Sox batting-helmet cups, and they had cookies decorated with the Sox logo.

Small crowd (because nobody knew about it), but everybody had a good time. Always a pleasure talking to Kittle, and Nancy is just a lovely, lovely person.

Did anyone else go? I'd be curious to hear what others thought of this. Wonder why no one really promoted it, or why whitesox.com didn't send us an email?

Unbelieveable... I feel like the Sox are like the Green Party. Any self-promotion is all grassroots/guerilla on a limited budget.
