What do you guys think the chances are of the White Sox picking up players of that level?

Need to upgrade at DH (Everett goes to role player or traded)....a real #3 or #4 that other teams are intimidateb by....need a real CF who brings speed/smartball to the table (Rowand goes to RF or LF/trade Pods or Dye,etc.).

What players would you like to see The White Sox pick up next season?

I don't know...good ones? Ones that can hit and pitch and maintain a level of consistency throughout the season maybe...

I'm starting a list, maybe we can complete this and send it along to Kenny to, you know, kinda give him some ideas.

Players the Sox need for next year:
Pujols, Albert
Rodriguez, Alex
Lee, Derrek
Ortiz, David
Teixeira, Mark
Ramirez, Manny
Guerrero, Vladimir
Abreu, Bobby
Cabrera, Miguel
Wright, David
Griffey Jr., Ken
Tejada, Miguel
Santana, Johan
Willis, Dontrelle
Peavy, Jake
Oswalt, Roy
Wagner, Billy
Ryan, B.J.

We don't need them all, but I figure 6 or 7 of these guys should help us out a little. Get it done, Kenny! :redneck

BTW, if I actually needed to put this in teal, you have issues.

Someone who will never pop out. We have more than enough of those guys.

Carlos Delgado.

I wonder if the Marlins still have a crush on Marte.

Least we not forget, but Konerko is a free agent. What do you think were gonna do about him? I think that is our (or should be) our top priority. We dont want another Mags on our hands

I could see Giles as a guy would could get for under $10mil a year. Move Dye to first (Just cause I know he ain't goin nowhere) and upgrade DH. I really think that's the best we can do. Maybe pick up Overbay and make Dye the Crazy of this year.....

Lyle Overbay.

Somebody who can provide some pop consistently by hitting around .300 with decent power. I don't know who that would be, but the lineup full of .265 hitters who hit homers just doesn't seem to get the job done, nor does it seem intimidating to pitchers either. Konerko may have 37 homers, but he just doesn't seem to scare any relief pitchers that have to face him late in games.

How about we go back in time and get the 1994 Frank Thomas.

Lyle Overbay.

Seriously, why are people so fascinated with Overbay? He's hitting .270 with 19HRs and 70 RBIs, and he has CLee protecting him in the lineup. Whoop-dee-doo. He is not the answer to our offensive problems.

Crazy Carl, who is rightfully being ripped on this board, still has better numbers than Overbay.

'Nuff said.

Overbay is becoming this year's Frank Catalanotto around here. Most want him, and I don't understand why.

Correct, sir!

Possible 2006 White Sox Candidates via trade or signing:
Rafael Furcal
Carlos Delgado
Sean Casey
Adam Dunn
Matt Morris
Scott Elarton

I could see Aaron Rowand or Pods getting traded in the offseason, depending on who's available

:?:

Overbay: .275/.368/.453/.821
Everett: .247/.305/.434/.739

The middle of the order is about run production. Look at the HRs and RBIs. I'd rather have Carl, sad as that is.

There's no question the Sox need to aqcuire an above average hitter this offseason, but I'm pretty confident about the pitching for next year. Possibly have BMac pitching in the rotation with El Duque out of the pen

There you go again, arguing with FACTS!
You got to argue with your heart, not with a stat sheet.:D:

I'd like to see what Lyle Overbay would do in the 2005 Sox lineup. I think he would put up more HR's and RBI's than Carl by playing at USCF and having a higher SLG% and batting average.

It's not like Miller Park is a difficult stadium to hit homers in. Guys like Overbay are actually pretty common. Sean Casey gives you similar production, JT Snow was like him, Ross Gload if he got full time play would probably be similar. Good player but nothing outstanding.

Getting overbay over paulie would be a regression, nobody wins by becoming the 2004 milwaukee brewers.

Konerko is probably one of the top 5 1b in the league right now, his resigning is a must.

my sign list probably has Scott Eyre on it to upgrade on Marte. The only other guy I would want is a DH who can bat in the 3-hole and none of that type is really available on the Free Agent market this year.

An idea that intrigues me is if Jim Thome can prove he is healthy and the Phillies would be willing eat about half his contract I would grab him to be the DH. But I think they are going to hold onto him, play him to increase his value and try to ship him off at the next deadline. It's not an ideal but I would be willing to take a chance on him.

The only position free agents that interest me are Furcal, Matsui (if the yanks don't sign him by Nov. 15th he's a free agent), and i'm a bit interested by Jacque Jones (just so we don't have to face him).

I'd also want a couple Bench guys, one of whom can fill in at leadoff in a pinch, but I don't have any names on me right now.
